Brunch With The Brits

We start this week by learnin about AAthelston.  Then how do Jean and Lionel cope with jetlag?  And just who is the motorcyclist and the missing diamond cat?

I always look forward to guest hosts.  John Lingard of Lincoln England is in this week with a South African look at The Navy Lark.  Plus we'll end our second season of Navy Lark and continue Clouds of Witness.  Just who murdered Captain Dennis Cathgart?  In England Alfred dies and Edward takes over.  Enjoy.

We'll begin by learning about Alfred The Great the King who founded the British Navy.  Then we'll see just what disrepair the Navy can get in to when Mr. Murray goes sick.  We'll conclude My Music for this round and finish by listening to the first episode of Clouds of Witness.  Enjoy.

In this week's Caesar we'll meet Hadrian.  Plus we'll check in on the Admiral who is celebrating fifty years of service.  Matt Cox also gives a brief nod to the passing of Fez Parker and we'll hear all about Saxon England and play a bit of Strauss with the My Music team.

What in the heck is Farmville?  We begin this week's Brunch by asking that question.  Then we get serious with the programming.  We start with This Sceptred Isle and meet St. Augustine.  How does Captain Stanton do on a cross country run?  How does Claudius become a god?  And we'll play My Music with some work from Faust amongst others.  Enjoy

King Arthur!  Who was he?  Okay I have to admit as I write this intro I still se Mad Mad Mad Madam Mimm somewhere in my shade of mind.  But we're in our new studio and we'll begin this week by meeting King Arthur ... really then we'll see how Johnson does with his new diet in Navy Lark.  The pannel is back for musical mayhem and David Tennant starrs as Caligula.  Enjoy.

This week we ask where you brunch.  But as far as programs are concerned we find out about the first British invassion have an episode of the Navy Lark in which we hope Mr. Phillips can make it past Tower Bridge listen to The William Tell overture with the My music pannel highlight Ian Wallace and no it's not the Yes drummer and we end with Holmes and Watson solving the Speckled BAnd.  Enjoy.

This episode begins what I hope will become a favorite series for us as we'll begin learning about English history.  We're starting "This Sceptred Isle," with an episode entitled "Land of The Druids."  Then we'll cross over to our favorite naval draft and find out what happens when the unit comfort fund gets revissited.  We then pause to play a round ... the first ever round of "My Music," and end with Sherlock Holmes and "The Blue Carbuncle."  Happy New Year and enjoy.

I don't mind saying that when we end Churchill's Bodyguard this week I feel a bit emotional.  A thirteen week series ... well it's a quarter of a year.  The Navy Lark continues though with the episode "Johnson Finds Treasure," and then we listen to Agatha Christies Adventure of The Christmas Pudding.  If you've never listened to John Moffett as Hercule then you're in for a treat.  David Bales should just be finishing "The Mysterious Affair at sStyle."  Enjoy and early Christmas and holiday greetings.
