Solomon was in a unique position to offer insight. In the book of Ecclesiastes, he asks the question, "What does a person gain from all the work they do in life?" And he comes to an uncomfortable conclusion: Everything is vanity. Through his book he defends his conclusion with three undeniable truths. The first is that time erases everything. If so, then what is the role of a Christian?

In Colossians 4, Paul lists out the unsung heroes who have made his ministry possible and supported him throughout his most difficult seasons.

Paul finally tackles the heresies pressing into the Colossians church. They are a mixed bag between paganism and Judaism. He pulls back the curtain to reveal what these philosophies actually create and turns the faithful Christian's focus back to where it should be.

Jesus established God's new covenant with His people. Where circumcision was the sign of God's covenant with Abraham, what is the sign today?

Our enemy and the culture around us tries to sell us lies using the powerful tools of mystery, big promises, and convincing us we can have better than what we have. BUT, Jesus is totally sufficient for all our daily needs and our eternal salvation.

How do you steward the church? Teach the Word. How do you reveal Christ? Teach the Word. How do we warn of God's wrath? Teach the Word. How do we instruct in wisdom? Teach the Word. How do we mature believers? Teach the Word.

Paul corrects bad theology, not with complicated arguments, but by reminding and reaffirming simply WHO Jesus is.

Paul's prayer suggests a change in purpose happens for God's people. Their lives stop revolving around themselves, and they begin to have a purpose greater than themselves.
