The solution to overcoming self-delusion is to approach the gospel with honesty, self-awareness, and a willingness to see oneself truthfully, recognizing that while we may deceive others, we cannot deceive God.

Mother Hilda says that like Abraham trusting God’s promises despite not seeing immediate evidence, so too are we called to trust in God's plan, to trust in God's promises even in times of uncertainty.

Fr Tony Percy says that Jesus insists that holiness is about removing grit from our hearts, not so much from our hands.
