Father Dave reminds us on this particular feast day that although we may not have exactly the same body as an Olympic athlete, we are still blessed by God with both a body as well as a soul, which indeed will be reunited in Heaven. June 8, 2008. Tenth Sunday in Ordinary Time. We may think at times that each of us is not good enough, or not pious enough, or not worthy enough to be truly called by God. Friday of the Seventh Week in Ordinary Time. Although the readings at first seem like fairly bad news, Father Dave points out that in the responsorial psalm, we see that indeed "The Lord is kind and merciful." Thursday of the Sixth Week in Ordinary Time. The readings remind us today to make sure that we do not have partiality with certain people over others - as impossible as this task may seem. For as Scripture tells us, it may very well be that one person you write off due to preconceived misconceptions that would have been your cornerstone to a stronger faith with God.
