  • Sayyid al-Istighfar: The Foremost Way of Seeking Allah’s Forgiveness – Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

    19/02/2018 Duración: 23min

In this khutbah, Shaykh Faraz Rabbani reminds the believers that it is Allah who gives guidance. Out of His tremendous and unimaginable mercy, Allah has given us all kinds of means to seek and attain this guidance. One of those means is what Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) referred to as sayyid al-istighfar, meaning the foremost ways in seeking Allah’s forgiveness. This formula of asking Allah for forgiveness answers many key questions on Islamic belief. Who is Allah? What Allah’s relationship to creation? What does one owe Allah Most High? The sayyid al-isitghfar is a lesson in affirming Allah’s absolute oneness (tawheed), affirming who is your Lord. It also helps us to realize everything that one receives is ultimately from Allah and Him alone. Text, transliteration and translation of sayyid al-istighfar can be found below.

  • Reflection from the Qur’an: The Followed and their Admirers – Shaykh Faid Mohammed Said

    13/02/2018 Duración: 08min

Bismillah-ir Rahman-ir Raheem [And they should consider that] when those who have been followed disassociate themselves from those who followed [them], and they [all] see the punishment, and cut off from them are the ties [of relationship]. Those who followed will say, "If only we had another turn [at worldly life] so we could disassociate ourselves from them as they have disassociated themselves from us." Thus will Allah show them their deeds as regrets upon them. And they are never to emerge from the Fire. (Surah Al-Baqarah, 166-167) Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) described the Qur’an as a guide to the straight path; and the beauty of the Qur’an is that each ayah (verse) is beautiful and so much so that you cannot differentiate between the beauty of two ayahs! And the People of Qur’an, when they read and journey through the Qur’an, their skin shivers, as they learn, experience and become a part of something new each time they read and reflect on the Qur’an! In this world, people follow each other, look up to

  • The Believer’s Response to Trials and Tribulations: Reflections on the Quebec Shootings, A Year Later – Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

    05/02/2018 Duración: 23min

In this khutba Shaykh Faraz Rabbani reminds us that the believers are not distinguished by living a worldly life, rather a believer lives with a higher reality and sense of purpose. Understanding the events that take place in this world are not for one to simply indulge in with worldly emotions. Rather they are a trial to see how one will deal with the trials and tribulations of this world. He goes on to remind us that what makes a Muslim community is believing in Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessing be upon him). Shaykh Faraz goes on to explain how believers respond to trials. In trials and tribulations there is a tremendous wisdom from Allah Most High. What Allah wants from believers during trials is to continue to turn to Him with a sense of need. He ends by explaining how the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him) was constantly tried and tested, however he never complained. This khutba was delivered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani at the Mississauga Jame Masjid (http://www.jamemasjid.org/) in

  • The Company We Keep – Shaykh Faid Mohammed Said

    04/02/2018 Duración: 25min

Bismillah-ir Rahman-ir Raheem Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasalam) said to Syedina Abu Dharr (radiallah anhu): “Loneliness is better than bad company, and good company is better than being alone; to speak good is better than being quiet, and to keep quiet is better than saying words of regret!” People might blame you for not being social, or for not being around them, but what really matters is our choice of company, as company is infectious – so choose with whom to be! As Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasalam) said: “The example of good company is like being in a perfumery, either remnants of the perfume remain on you or you will carry the perfume in your hands; and the example of bad company is like visiting the establishment of the blacksmith, where you will either be affected by the smoke or you will carry the scent of it!” And Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasalam) said: “Everyone will be resurrected with his or her friend, - so choose who you will be with!” ...And as far as you remember Him, you a

    31/01/2018 Duración: 18min

Shaykh Faraz Rabbani explains and reflects on an aphorism by Imam al-Shadhili: "The truest of statements with Allah Most High, is there is no God but God (la ilaha illa Allah) upon purity. And the first of actions to be upon the love of Allah Most High is to hate worldliness, and to have no hope from the people of this world while being in conformity with them." Shaykh Faraz explains the virtues of affirming Divine oneness (la ilaha illa Allah). He counsels everyone to make much remembrance of that statement. He also reflects that through leaving love of the perishing world, one moves towards loving Allah Most High.   Checkout all of the SeekersGuidance podcasts by visiting https://seekersguidance.org/podcasts Help Seekersguidance build a Global Islamic Seminary and spread the light of guidance to millions around the world by supporting us through monthly donation by going to https://seekersguidance.org/donate – your donations are tax deductible in the US and Canada

  • Salawat: Make Allah your Sponsor by Reflecting His Mercy – Shaykh Faid Mohammed Said

    26/01/2018 Duración: 14min

“There has come to you from Allah a Light…” (Surah Al-Ma’idah, 15) Bismillah-ir Rahman-ir Raheem No one is exempt from the Mercy of Allah (subhana wa ta'ala)! “Say, ‘O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful." (Surah Az-Zumar, 53) The reflection of His Mercy is His Nur – the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wasalam) – who was not sent other than as a “Mercy to all the worlds.” (Surah Al-‘Anbiya, 107). And how can we reflect this Mercy? By sending Salawat (prayers and salutations) upon the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wasalam)! “Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [ Allah to grant him] peace.” (Surah Al-‘Ahzab, 56) Allahumma salli alaa Nur. May we all be connected to The Nur, in the now and forever! Jummah Mubarak! Faid

Faith is also the greatest gift we can give to the modern world in which we live. As people move further and further away from belief, resulting in a state of agitation and a state of panic. Faith (iman) is related to security (amn). With faith one finds security in their Lord who absolutely sustains and takes care of everything from its beginning to its fruition. Shaykh Yahya reminds us that history is in good hands. The umma of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is granted mercy. There are many things of this deen and in this world that one cannot fully understand or comprehend the wisdom of, until they take into consideration the afterlife, and see how it plays out in the next life.
