Add to that two world titles, the 2006 Commonwealth title and numerous relay medals and it all adds up to a very impressive career. This year Christine is looking forward to adding to her Olympic tally when she competes in the Summer Games in Rio. We talk to her about her career, hopes for the Games in Rio and her faith. And we continue our series through the Games of the modern Olympic era as we look back on the highlights and drama of the 1988 Games in Seoul.

First, American high jumper, Dick Fosbury whose new style of jumping with the Fosbury Flop helped him to the gold medal and went on to revolutionise the sport. And we hear from the winner of the women's 800 metres, Madeline Manning Mimms, who had to overcome racial prejudice from her fellow Americans before becoming the first American black woman to win Olympic gold in track and field athletics.

Tatyana McFadden from the USA won the women's wheelchair race for the fourth successive year. She talks about the challenges she has faced and overcome to become the world's leading female wheelchair racer. South African Ernst Van Dyk came fourth in the men's wheelchair event. He tells us why, as a ten-times Boston marathon winner, why he finds the London course challenging and the difference that his faith makes to his life. Wilson Kipsang from Kenya came 5th in the elite men's race and he also talks about the role of faith in his life. And we continue our journey through the Games of the modern Olympic era as we reach the 1960 Olympics in Rome.

14 Apr: Nick Willis, 1500m Olympic silver medallist & 1952 Olympics
13/04/2016 Duración: 901h00sIn 2008 Nick Willis won silver in the 1500m at the Olympic Games in Beijing. Two years earlier he won the Commonwealth title in Melbourne and last month he picked up bronze at the World Indoor Championships in Portland, USA. Earlier this year he announced through his Facebook pages that with the help of his wife, family and friends he'd beaten an addiction to pornography that had gripped him until 2 years ago. In an interview recorded in 2011 he talks to us about his career and faith as a follower of Jesus Christ. And continuing our journey through the Games of the modern Olympic era we look back on the 1952 Games in Helsinki.

07 Apr: Michael Lapage, Olympian & Missionary and 1948 Olympics
06/04/2016 Duración: 901h00sOur journey through the Olympics of the modern era brings us to the 1948 Games in London. Organised just three years after the end of the Second World War it became known as the Austerity Games due to the economic climate and post-war rationing. A record number of 59 nations took part but not Germany or Russia. Many athletes were housed in military barracks rather than a comfortable Olympic Village. British rower Michael Lapage, who later became a Christian missionary, recalls his experience at the Games when he won silver in the men's Eights and we hear again from Dorothy Tyler who won her second Olympic silver medal in the women's high jump, adding to the medal she won 12 years earlier in Berlin.

These were the Games where Hitler wanted to show the supremacy of white athletes but a humble black American called Jesse Owens stole the show with four gold medals. And we talk to Dorothy Tyler who won silver in the women's high jump at the 1936 Games. In an interview recorded in 2011 when she was 91 she recalls the Opening Ceremony, her silver medal winning performance and her meeting with Jesse Owens.

Two months later he won bronze behind Usain Bolt and Justin Gatlin at the World Championships in Beijing. In an interview recorded last month in Glasgow he talks to us about his meteoric rise, his family, his training, his hopes for the Olympics in Rio and the bedrock of his faith as a follower of Jesus Christ.
