Episode #401: 2022 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix Report
08/10/2022 Duración: 51minWell what do you know? On the 11th second, of the 11th minute, of the 11th hour on Sunday night in Singapore, it was a win for Car Number 11. Yes, the Max Verstappen win streak is over, But how we got there was spectacular, yet boring all at the same time. Verstappen had to start 8th due to abandoning his final lap due to a lack of fuel. In fact, both he and Lewis Hamilton, probably the two best drivers in the world looked completely mid, with both men overdoing it under braking and either going down the escape road, or tapping the wall. Weird. At the front, Sergio Perez held off a furious charge from Charles Leclerc and the Minister of Defence nursed his tyres to a comfortable win. Or was it? We got controversy with Perez dropping too far back behind the Safety Car THREE times, and having to wait till literally Monday Morning Singapore time before we got a final result. Is that okay? We talk about it. ALL of this was overshadowed by a huge rumour that came out of the media. According to The Race, Red Bull

Episode #400: The Doctor - The Valentino Rossi Retrospective
06/10/2022 Duración: 02h23minYou know you've made it when you have your own Wikipedia page, PURELY for your own achievements on the track. Welcome to our 400th episode, a special look back at The Doctor, Valentino Rossi, the greatest Motorcycle rider of all-time and oone of the most recognisable athletes in the history of Motorsport. The end of 2021 marked the end of a 26-year career in bike racing that included 432 races, 115 wins, 235 podium finishes, 65 pole positions and of course, 9 World Championships. But there was so much more to Valentino Rossi than that. He essentially saved a fleeting MotoGP in terms of popularity twice in the 2000's. He became a transcendent star who made yellow cool again. He drove Rallys, tested a Formula 1 car, and made the post-race celebration a huge part of Motorsports culture, way before the Shoey became likeable. He was a lovable maverick but also a ruthless competitor. He had some of the greatest rivalries in Motorsport history. Max Biaggi, Jorge Lorenzo, Sete Gibernau, Casey Stoner and Marc Marq

Episode #399: 2022 MotoGP Japanese Grand Prix Report
30/09/2022 Duración: 50minKare wa Jyakku Miraa desu. Jyakkasu he youkoso! (He's Jack Miller, welcome to Jackass!) MotoGP's gauntlet of flyaways continue as the sport heading to the first Japanese Grand Prix since 2019. And despite the world slowly returning to normal, more wacky shit would go down as Jack Miller would not only win his 4th ever MotoGP race, he'd dominate it too. It was a picture perfect performance. Aggressive off the start to get to the front, and then the pace he delivered made him uncatchable. We discuss whether it was the biggest win of his career to date, and the podium behind him of LORD Brad Binder and Jorge Martin behind him! Another headliner behind him, was Marc Marquez! And in his first full race back since his surgery, he sticks it on pole on the rain, and then goes on to finish 4th, just 7 seconds off the win. Honestly, it's surprising that he finds new ways to surprise us at this point. We gush over the latest phase of his comeback. We also talk about the mess that was the title picture. Quartararo -

Episode #398: The 2022 IndyCar Season Review
25/09/2022 Duración: 01h32minIt's been a fun ride for IndyCar in 2022, and to round off our coverage for the season, he's an extended 90 minute special season review to talk about the state of the field at the end of the season. We go team by team to talk about their drivers individually, where their teams are at, and what could be coming going forward. For example - AJ Foyt were clearly the worst, and Kyle Kirkwood was a bit of a bust, hopefully the Andretti moves help, but can we stop this team from being sorry? Has McLaren leapt over Andretti into the Big 3? Was Pato O'Ward, Colton Herta and Alex Palou's potential moves distractions? Is Meyer Shank going places with an Indy500 death line up with an average age of 43? What about Rahal Letterman Lanigan? The three car expansion didn't go to plan with Harvey having a dreadful season, but Christian Lundgaard finishing as the year's top rookie? And is Jimmie Johnson coming back? All that and so much on Motorsport101, extended edition! Special thanks to everyone who listened and read ou

Episode #397: 2022 MotoGP Grand Prix of Aragon Report
22/09/2022 Duración: 44minAnd just like that, the Championship is back on and it's probably a four-way. Welcome to Aragon, the biggest Championship flashpoint of the season so far and it all centered around Marc Marquez and the return from his fourth surgery on his arm after nearly four months out. And he looked like the Marc of old... in every sense. At the front of the field, Enea Bastianini stopped the four-race winning streak of Bagnaia in a tough, fierce fight that went to the final lap and just 0.04 seconds between them yet again! But further back, on the opening Lap 1, a Marc mistake on corner exit led to Championship leader Fabio Quartararo riding into him and crashing! And with it, we have the Top 3 of the title race just 17 points back, and Enea Bastianini back in contention at -48. We break down all the action and chaos. Is Bagnaia the title favourite? We also talk about the viral Moto3 incident that had team mechanics from Max Biaggi's racing team deliberately stop a rider from exiting the pitlane! In a never before se

Episode #396: 2022 IndyCar Grand Prix of Monterrey Report
18/09/2022 Duración: 45minAnd so it came to be that the battle for the Astor Cup went all the way to the final round at Laguna Seca, and we had drama all the way through to the end. Will Power dominated qualifying ahead of *checks notes* Callum Illot?! To take a record-breaking pole position, one more than the great Mario Andretti. All this while Josef Newgarden spun at the Corkscrew and Scott Dixon just didn't get out of Round 1. Josef went from 25th to 2nd in the race in vain, Power took a comfy 3rd like he has all year young, Dixon was nowhere, and... ALEX PALOU WON BY HOW MUCH?! In this episode, we talk about all the drama that Laguna Seca had off and on the track, all the protagonists. And more on Alex Palou's crushing win to close out the year and the announcement he made midweek to stay at Chip Ganassi Racing at the #10 car. There's ramifications with that too, such as Felix Rosenqvist staying at McLaren and all this beef over... F1 tests. F*** sake. All that and us going over our favourite moments in 2022, on Motorsport10

Episode #395: 2022 Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix Report
16/09/2022 Duración: 46minPredictable news, gang: Max Verstappen won. Again. 5 in a row now for the Champion-elect who actually has an outside chance to win the title in Singapore next time out. It's what winning 11 out of 16 does for a guy. And to be fair, Ferrari didn't really ahem... "honse" this one, to be honest. Yeah, Sainz had penalties and he drove really well. Leclerc just didn't have the pace on this one. The main event on this podcast involved Daniel Ricciardo, a dead McLaren and the race director NOT calling for a red flag as the race ended under Safety Car. But should it have done? Have we as an audience got a bit too zesty for entertainment within the confides of a sport? Is this another Abu Dhabi 21, but without the tension? We debate it on the show! Also, we had an emergency standing, as poor Alex Albon had to have surgery on his appendix, and Nyck De Vries at the 11th hour takes his seat... and finishes 9th! Was it a debut that was a bit... too good? We discuss where it fits in an ever more complicated 2022 F1 silly

Episode #394: 2022 MotoGP Grand Prix of San Marino Report
13/09/2022 Duración: 49min"We just can't beat this guy." Francesco Bagnaia right now, is that dude. MotoGP's Grand Prix of San Marino had another outstanding final lap fight win, only this time, it was with his future teammate, Enea Bastianini! Just 0.034 seconds separating the pair over the line in the closest MotoGP race finish in over three years. We break down a colossal fight at the front and put into context just how much of a monster Enea Bastianini is around Misano. It also gives us a look at the title fight. With Fabio Quartararo only 5th on the day, Bagnaia now has only 30 points to make up in the title race, and he now controls his own destiny. He has to win the final 6 in a row to do it for sure, but with him being the first Ducati rider to ever win 4 in a row, just how much is possible? And can he avoid tucking the front, the Ducati weakness? We break it down. We also say goodbye to the legend that is 04, the great Andrea Dovizioso. Misano marked his final race and Dre and Cam reminisce over just how good a rider he wa

Episode #393: 2022 IndyCar Grand Prix of Portland Report
10/09/2022 Duración: 45minJust what the IndyCar world needed - Another dominant New Zealander called Scott. But my goodness, he's driving out of his skin at the moment. In IndyCar's penultimate race of the year, it was Scott McLaughlin that kept his very thin chances of winning the Astor Cup alive with a lights-to-flag victory. Scott led 104 out of 110 laps and never really looked like losing. Is he the favourite for 2023? We also give an extended deep dive into the three main contenders going into the season finale. Will Power, a man who's come alive post Indy 500. 11 Top 4 finishes this season, and with a 2nd in Portland, remains in control with a 20 point lead. Will Power find a way to shrug off the concerns over his luck in title deciders? Scott Dixon has been a model of consistency as well. His qualifying has been lacking but has always come back as a strong Sunday man. An average finish of under 7 is incredible. But if this doesn't become Astor Cup #7 for the Kiwi, will his 1mph speed limit breach at the Indy 500 cost him ever

Episode #392: 2022 Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix Report
08/09/2022 Duración: 01h56sZandvoort wasn't terrible for Round 15 of the Formula 1 World Championship. We'll take it. But this was a race where most of its drama happened OFF the track. We talk about Max Verstappen's 10th win of the season and the strategic battles that played out on the track, as well as the discussions off of it. Yuki Tsunoda suffers a complicated differential failure and everyone immediately screams conspiracy because it might help Max win the race... Only for Valtteri Bottas' power unit to pack it in 5 laps later. Welp. That leads to Hannah Schmitz (Red Bull's chief strategist) getting dogpiled on social media and more general toxicity. The boys go through the mess and try to make sense of it all. We also talk about the biggest debate in global Motorsport right now - Should IndyCar's Colton Herta get special dispensation from the FIA to be granted a super license so he can go to AlphaTauri? He doesn't have the 40 points needed to race in F1 directly, but it's now lead to huge debates on the Internet between F1 an

Episode #391: 2022 Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix Report
31/08/2022 Duración: 01h02sIt's the return of the King! Ryan Erik King that is, the Jalopnik writer returns to the show for a one-off guest appearance! And for the four of us, we sat around the table for a huge beat-em-down of massive proportions. as Max Verstappen absolutely dominated the Belgian Grand Prix. Despite engine penalties from nearly half the field making him start the race from 14th, he was leading by Lap 18, and would go on to win by 18 seconds. And to make matters worse, his main title rival Charles Leclerc would have to settle for 5th, after one of Max's tear-off's inexplicably landed in his brake-cooling system, resulting in an extra pit-stop and a pit-lane speeding violation due to an over-heated sensor. Woof. Are we absolutely done title wise here? Surely we are, right? We also talk some of that second-hand embarrassment of EIGHT drivers taking a power-unit penalty. Does the system need looking at again, or are we over-reacting again? Also, Daniel Ricciardo is out of McLaren officially after being bought out of h

Episode #390: 2022 IndyCar Grand Prix of St Louis Report
27/08/2022 Duración: 46minSomeone play the Jaws music, because Josef Newgarden is coming. We've only got three rounds left of the IndyCar Series for 2022, and Josef Newgarden took his 5th win of the season at Gateway's St Louis 500 to put himself just three points of the lead of the title race. But it very nearly didn't happen! We had rain play a huge role in terms of strategy, one that took the fuel saving Will Power out of the picture. But it also gave rise to the rampant charge of David Malukas! Lithusania's finest export went on a tear to nearly steal with dub, but still take a career high 2nd! We break it all down, as well as Newgarden's middle stint of the gods, as well as the future of ovals on the calendar, on Motorsport101!

Episode #389: 2022 MotoGP Austrian Grand Prix Report
24/08/2022 Duración: 59minAn earth-shattering announcement hitting MotoGP right on Austrian's GP weekend, as the series announced from out of nowhere that they'll be adding Sprint Races to EVERY MotoGP race weekend in 2023. They'll be replacing the 4th practise session and it's seemingly divided the entire sport. Riders like Marc Marquez are for it, but others like Fabio Quartararo aren't. There's even been talk of a riders union as a result of this. Dre and Cam do their best to try and make sense of all of it all. We also had a race, and Francesco Bagnaia has now gone undefeated since becoming a criminal. Three on the bounce, but only minimal title damage as Fabio Quartararo *somehow* finished 2nd at a terrible Yamaha matchup. We talk about the state of play in the title race. And Jack Miller came 3rd, again! We also break down the utter mess that is KTM. It seems like Miguel Oliveira might actually be staying after all, as Tech3 reboots to GasGas and announces Pol Espargaro as their lead rider. But this will likely come at the exp

Episode #388: 2022 Formula E Seoul ePrix Report
16/08/2022 Duración: 49minWe can finally say, it's Stoffel Season again. And the man doesn't even like waffles. The Season Finale of Year 8 in Formula E hit us this past weekend in Seoul, South Korea and its first major Motorsport event in almost a decade. Anyone else remember Yeognam? Anyway, we catch up a little bit on London, as Stoffel Vandoorne was in control of the Championship, and Mitch Evans and Edo Mortara were the only two men who could realistically stop him. So of course, Mitch takes Race 1 just to make it an absolute final race showdown. But not before a 7-car wreck on a wet track. Yikes. But with Mitch qualifying badly in Race 2, it left the path to success clear for Stoffel to become Formula E's third World Champion. We discuss the path to the title for Stoffel, and his main contenders in Mitch, who Mitched Dre's last brah. And Edo Mortara. Remember when he had an 11-point lead in the Championship after Berlin?! We also talk Seoul's track, and the Olympic Stadium it was racing around. We'll get over Ben Johnson's

Episode #387: 2022 IndyCar Nashville GP Report
12/08/2022 Duración: 53minIndyCar finished its gauntlet run of back-to-back rounds with #BRIDGEWEEK! As the paddock returned to Music City, Nashville... for another shitshow. A three hour long-race, a 90-minute rain delay, a red flag and EIGHT cautions, three men off the lead lap before the first round of stops, and in the end.. Scott Dixon wins. And not just any old win, his 53rd in IndyCar competition. A milestone to make him 2nd on the all-time winners list behind the great AJ Foyt. We discuss his title credentials with just three rounds left to go, with what we think may still be five men in the fight. But we know what you're truly here for. The Twitter beef between Romain Grosjean and... well, everyone else, after Josef Newgarden put him in the wall and went on a tirade at fans and Grosjean on social media, with Marcus Ericsson and others jumping in the pile. Was this Josef losing his rag? Heat of the moment? Or something more sinister with IndyCar's attitude with F1 drivers coming over? And finally, we talk about Nashville it

Episode #386: 2022 MotoGP British Grand Prix Report
10/08/2022 Duración: 47minGreat to see someone like Francesco Bagnaia come back from such off-season adversity eh? It was the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, but first, we talk the Suzuka 8 Hours this past weekend as Honda lay an absolute beating on the field, winning by more than a lap on the Kawasaki dream team of Jonathan Rea, Leon Haslam and Alex Lowes. We also send our best wishes to Gino Rea, recovering in hospital from a horrible accident in practise. Go well Gino. But yes, the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, and it was Francesco Bagnaia that came through an early fight from Alex Rins and a late charge from Maverick Vinales to take another narrow victory, and a great reminder of how good MotoGP can be. We discuss that and some of the narratives associated with the series at present, like World Superbikes recent comparisons. We also talk about the races unfortunately small attendance. Only 41,000 showed up for this one and barely 100k for the weekend. Not for the first time this season, we try and get to the bottom of w

Episode #385: 2022 IndyCar Brickyard GP Report
06/08/2022 Duración: 49minThe winless streak is over! After over three years out of the winners circle, Alex Rossi broke a nearly 50-race long duck to take the W at IndyCar's second Indianapolis GP of the season, the Gallagher Grand Prix. It was a confusing race though, one you could argue was somewhat inherited after leader Colton Herta drove over a kerb and his gearbox broke. So, the 26 car has a third compromised race in a row, Grosjean can't find his footing in the 28 car, and Devlin DeFrancesco is apparently being shown the door. Is all well at Andretti despite the win? Are they slipping out of the Big 3 altogether? We also talk about Christian Lundgaard's brilliant second place finish as the only man who could really follow Rossi around. With him and Callum Illot getting rave reviews in the paddock off the back of "unsuccessful" runs in the European ladder, is F1's losses IndyCar's gains? Is there going to be a bottleneck over there as well as F1 revels in one of its strongest ever grids? Dre and RJ going into a deep dive on t

Episode #384: 2022 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix Report
04/08/2022 Duración: 01h15minHoly shit. What a goddamn week, and one of the most newsworthy coming off a GP we've ever seen. This is a 75 minute special on all of the drama that came in and around the Hungarian GP. It all started with Sebastian Vettel announcing his retirement, which of course, we all pay tribute to on the show after one of the sport's most legendary careers and remarkable turnarounds in his reputation. It's a fun time. Of course, the aftermath of that has had all hell break loose. Fernando Alonso from outta nowhere swooped in and took that seat off the back of the 41-year old wanting a second year guaranteed that Alpine wasn't prepared to give. And man did he give his current boss shit for it on Instagram. And then, just when you think Oscar Piastri coming in for Alpine was a no-brainer... he rejects it after talk surfaced about a possible handshake deal with Zak Brown at McLaren. Again. Like, what are we doing here?! All of that chaos, drama, and permutations broken down in the first half of the show. We do talk t

Episode #383: 2022 IndyCar GP's Of Iowa Report
01/08/2022 Duración: 52minGLORY to corn! Welcome back to Iowa where IndyCar decided to get corny with a pair of races brought to you by Hyvee, who pumped a whole load of money into the place! We nicknamed this weekend "The Ballad of Josef Newgarden" because it all revolved around him. In Race 1, he led 208 out of 250 laps, stretching out a 60 lap final stint into an 80 lap stint fueling saving, and crushing the field. He was set to do the same in Race 2, leading over half the laps on the table but then his rear right damper broke and sent him hurtling into the wall. Just when Josef was back in title contention, that crash sent him hurtling back down the table. Not only that, he collapsed outside his trailer in the Iowa sun after the wreck and had to be airlifted to hospital to make sure he was alright. Thankfully he'd be fine, but we talked all about the incredible 36 hours the title contender faced. Speaking of title contenders, those two races gave us a pretty clear "Championship Six" between Marcus Ericsson, Will Power, Pato O'W

Episode #382: 2022 Formula 1 French Grand Prix Report
29/07/2022 Duración: 51minThe primal scream heard around the world. Charles Leclerc while leading the French Grand Prix on Lap 18, spins out and puts it in the wall. And just like that, Charles is now 63 points behind in the Championship with just 10 races left, as Max Verstappen would go on to comfortably win his 7th race of the year. Ferrari gets another deep dive on this edition of the show, where they weren't directly responsible for this one, but we still have a go over Carlos Sainz race. Man could have had a podium from the back of the field, but an Unsafe Release penalty and some questionable strategy calls put pay to that. Is this the end for Ferrari's 2022 challenge?! We also talk Mercedes after Lewis Hamilton's 300th GP was celebrated with his best result of the year in 2nd, with teammate George Russell in the wars with Sergio Perez for 3rd. Is the double podium a sign the win is coming? Dre was NOT kind about their chances here, but an honest assessment of Mercedes is in this one too. Also a chat about France's future on
