Who's Who

In this week's episode, we meet Delta, who is being chased by some dude and his Bannermen. Together with the Doctor and Mel, they take a bus to the late 50s, where her egg hatches and she has a green baby who grows up to be a less green baby that is able to make two different kinds of sounds. When traveling the universe, you'll quickly learn that most planets are fairly dull and uninteresting. They're mainly just chunks of rock or gas floating around a star of some sort. You know what? This serial could have been so much better had it really been called Limelash, like I first misspelled it. At least that way we would have gotten some Vitamin C into the serial and it would have had some beneficial qualities. We've had One Doctor. We've had Three Doctors. We've even had Five Doctors. But up until today, we had never had ... TWO Doctors.

A serial that contains a baby tyrranosaurus rex, an explosive device that turns people into trees(!) and a female villain Time Lord - it can't be bad, can it? No, it can't! ... But it can be fairly dull. And weird. One of my recurring nightmares is to be stuck in a room with a person whom I can't understand. We try to communicate, but his voice keeps coming out as a disjointed series of shrieks that I am unable to understand... The Cybermen are a little bit like that. I just can't understand them either. And I don't mean that as in understanding their motivation or their raison d'être or anything like that - no; I mean the actual words coming out of their ... face-box-thing. Still, though. The Doctor is mellowing out, Peri is less annoying and we get to see some amazingly brutal scenes involving the Cybermen. So it's not all bad.

In a serial called The Twin Dilemma, one would expect a dilemma surrounding a pair of twins, right? Not that the twins hardly appear in the episode at all, but the drama has to do with the new Doctor.

All good things must come to an end, they say, and when it comes to Peter Davison's run as the Doctor - that's true as well. As far as the serial goes, don't give up on it if you don't like the first episode. It gets a lot better as soon as you're getting into the second episode. After a great episode, it's rare to get another great episode. So ... this one wasn't great - but it was certainly very very good!

Two terrible serials in a row did not leave us with high hopes for Frontios, but thankfully we were positively surprised. Enquire within to hear the derring-do tales of The Doctor and his two visible and one invisible companions! I hate to be that guy, but I believe that the title of this story comes from the process that you will undergo a few hours after sitting down to watch it. It's just dreadfully dull. In fact, don't listen to this episode, just take my word for it. We gave it two points out of ten. It's not worth the time spent listening to the episode, even. Please, for the love of all that is holy, step back! Stay away while you still can!

Back in the days, there have been a handful of episodes that Petter and Breki just plain did not like. Some of the worst contenders on the list have been the ones involving the Silurians and the Sea Devils.
