If God just wanted us to have the “right” answers, He would have given us an instruction manual or encyclopedia… but He didn’t. He gave us a collection of songs & stories & poems & letters. He gave us a Bible that evades easy answers & forces us to slow down, to participate in it, to meet God in the text. In this message, we explore how Jesus invites us to read the Scriptures in a way that is participatory & personal. He invites us to sit at His feet.

Does God still speak today? Where do gifts like speaking in tongues & prophecy fit into the Christian life? Should we be listening for God or should we just assume that everything God is going to say to us is in the Bible?

Love is more than a feeling. It is what Jesus does. It is who God is. It is the very stuff of reality. It is the measure of God’s work in our lives.

If you want to know God, you must experience Him. But how do we experience God? How do we know God the way you know what it feels like to dip you toe in cold water or to be embraced by your aunt who wears too much perfume?

Neuroscience and the Apostle Paul agree. Knowing God is about more than believing a set of facts. It must be a fully embodied experience. If we want to know God, we need to experience Him. We need to serve Him. We need to meet Him in community.

Where do we begin this journey of growing our awareness of the ways & workings of the Spirit of God? In these three verses, the Apostle Paul lays out three ways that people seek God’s transforming presence, but only one of these end in a (super) ordinary spiritual life.
