  • The News In Review - Barrett and Guests

    31/05/2015 Duración: 01h38min

Lots to talk about this week. Is it time for the patriot act to die? The bulk collection of meta data does not seem to have produced any results. When it was enacted weeks after 9/11 the government could have mandated anything, and the American public would have agreed. Mandatory eating of Brussel sprouts, but times have changed. Is it time for the patriot act to die? Hard to believe that the first GOP presedential debate is less than two months away. FOX is limiting it to the top 10 contenders based on some polls. Needless to say the other 8 or so hopefuls are miffed. So it is likely that we are facing 8 weeks of idiocy while they battle for a top ten spot. I find it humorous that anyone would want to be on FOX, but oh well.

    17/05/2015 Duración: 01h42min

Our weekly look at News and Politics. I am no longer surprised at how often the two subjects become meshed. The Amtrak crash certainly brought this to the forefront. I rather liked John Boehners comment about Amtrak has bags on money but prefers to sudsidize food service rather than improve safety systems. I'll bet he would not be saying that had he been a passenger. Jeb bush and Iraq. Exactly how many positions can he have on the subject? ISIS takes Ramadi. Is it time to do something about the Caliphate? but who? There seem to be few countries in the region that want to take the lead. And there is little interest in entering into the battle from the west.

  • The Week In Reviews - Ken Will Morton

    06/05/2015 Duración: 41min

The prolific Athens, Georgia based songwriter, Ken Will Morton, will release his 7th full-length release All’s Fair In Love & War on Rara Avis Records on June 5, 2015.   All’s Fair In Love & War is the follow up to his highly acclaimed 2012 release, Slow Burn. The new recording compiles 19 new songs (plus a hidden track) written in the wake of the dissolution of a long term relationship and with Morton finding himself living alone in a mobile home. Soon after, he’d written more than enough material for a double album (hence, initial title was A Double From A Single Wide). Morton converted his home to facilitate writing and recording music at anytime day or night, with wires and cables, guitars, amps and lyric sheets everywhere. Determined to hold on to the essence of this new work, and with the help and encouragement of engineer J.P Pruett, the entire album was made in the comfort of his home. Morton played all instruments. I will be sittind down with Ken to discuss his new CD and indeed his career

  • The Week In Reviews - Sun Soul Orchestra

    29/04/2015 Duración: 39min

Sun Soul Orchestra is an inspired project that features a rotating collection of artists performing original music and covers arranged by Stevo Théard and Ginger Murphy. Their debut album, What Matters Most has been a labor of love over the past 5 years and finally releases worldwide, physically and digitally on April 28th, 2015. On the surface it would seem that Los Angeles, California based Stevo and Ginger could not come from more disparate planets in the musical universe. Ginger came up in the highly structured, extremely regimented world of classical music training, while Stevo got most of his training on the job – at first playing nightclubs and gigging locally, then graduating into the world of international touring and recording.

  • The Week In Reviews - The Starchild Compact - Robert G. Williscroft

    28/04/2015 Duración: 37min

There are three types of science fiction, there is the pixie and goblin type (fantasy), there is soft Sci-Fi, John Wyndham springs to mind, the science is there, but plays second fiddle to the to the human story. The third type is hard Sci-Fi. The story uses science in a more proactive role. The Starchild Compact most certainly belongs in this third category. I will be sitting down with Robert G. Williscroft to discuss this book

  • The Week In Reviews - Operation Ivy Bells - Robert G. Williscroft

    27/04/2015 Duración: 33min

Operation Ivy Bells. Broadly speaking the plot is simple, it is towards the end of the Cold War, might the US be daring enough to send an older nuclear powered sub into the heart of waters controlled by the USSR to plant an NSA inspired listening device on an underwater communications cable? Might the same sub also snoop around a little bit to see if they can find any remnants from recent missile launches? Well I have to say yes. Might a sub lurking inside USSR controlled waters possibly attract the attention of the Russians, certainly! I will be sitting down with Robert to find out more about Operation Ivy Bells and I think some of the anwers might surprise you.

  • Americas Most Unwanted and The People Who Find Them

    18/04/2015 Duración: 01h13min

Our weekly look at the world of the Bail Bond industry. Commercial Bonds seem to be on the endanged species list in several states, prefering instead pre trial realease programs. On paper it sounds great, in practice it is far different. The tax payer foots the bill, the accused person foots the bill by having to pay monthly for his freedom, essentially he or she is on probation, but has yet to have been proved guilty of anything. When the person misses his court date, who looks for him? The answer is nobody. The world of Comercial Bonds is far different, the bondsman make a contract with the accused and the court. It is a one time fee, it does not matter if the bond lasts two weeks, two months, or two years. The tax payer is not involved, In the event that the accussed fails to appear in court the Bond holder has a huge vested interest in locating the person.

  • The Week In Reviews - Jus (Justin Naundros)

    15/04/2015 Duración: 32min

Justin Naundros, professionally known as Jus, has been working on his debut EP Obsession for the past year. This 6-song debut will be released worldwide both physically and digitally on April 21st, 2015, through his Zenith Point Records label. Jus was inspired to create the project while thinking about his own obsessions, and after having a conversation with someone else about theirs, realized that everyone has one main thing in their life that could be considered their obsession. Jus then began to produce tracks that he believed translated his obsessions, and began looking for artists to feature that could also give voice to theirs.

  • The News In Review - Barrett and Guests

    12/04/2015 Duración: 01h38min

A look at what is happenig in the world this week, There are lots of subjects to discuss. White cops shooting unarmed Black men.I wonder if there is a tag limit like hunting deer? Hillary throws her hat in the ring, while this is hardly surprising, the question is, will she get the support she needs to pull off a win in 2016. Rand Paul ramps up his efforts. But does he appeal to the far right? Some see him as to left for the GOP, and Hillary as to right for the Dems.
