Again we’ve taken on board a varied mix of music in our world, although we’ve certainly had quite a lot of ambient/ space music sent to us recently, It’s a journey from Berlin School to the cosmos and beyond. It seems we have fair few ambient style excursions in this edition, but they are certainly diverse, from sparse remoteness to experimental dark overtones, and for me it’s good to see we are represented by another two females, the passionate music of Kerni, and Dru Allen’s captivating plaintive voices on Mercury Antennae, It’s hard to believe we are already half way through 2015, but we’ve certainly had a good year music wise, with expressive textures, melodic soaring themes, serene moments of joy and timeless isolations connecting to the listeners. Mick always enjoys putting these editions together and is amazed there are so many musicians producing some dam fine sounds, from the dark side of ambient music to the full on cinematic scores. On a sad note, after the passing recently of the Tangs, Edgar Froese, Patrick Kosmos and Zenith magazine co founder Steve Roberts, we hear that David Allen, founder member of Soft Machine and Gong, has been fighting cancer for some time, but has now given up treatment, with possibility of only six months to live, our thoughts are with David and family with this devastating news. Hi Everyone, welcome to our second podcast in January which is certainly showing some classic sounds from the world of Electronic music, I think it’s going to be another great year. As tributes pour in for the sudden death of Tangerine Dream’s founder member Edgar Froese, all us were shocked last week by the passing of Steve Roberts who graced the EM scene with his knowledge, wit and enthusiasm for many years.
