Netflix CAN do something right now and again.  The Pale Blue Eye is one of those things.  A very literate and smart script headed up with Christian Bale and Harry Melling delivers what is a very exciting pre Civil War detective story with Edgar Allen Poe when he was a cadet at West Point. Noah Baumbach is known to make some pretty off the wall stuff.  White Noise has to take the cake, as that is concerned.  Adapted from a novel about a family attempting to deal with everyday things whilst also dealing with the emotions and uncertainty.  Interesting, Yes?   Adam Driver is great, as always and the supporting cast also is terrific.  Some ingredients in this cauldron just don't blend well with others, unfortunately.         WHITE NOISE, Dir. 20 years ago and older, a Disney animated film was cause for celebration and a night out at the movies.  You always knew a certain quality was there.  You could count on it.  These days, not so much, and that is a real shame.  Strange World leaves many things to be desired, unfortunately. Will and Ryan.  Ryan and Will.  Bros for sure.  Spirited brings a fun holiday musical both hilarious and up beat.  Sure it suffers from simple problems like story beats and characters not really making sense, but to there ARE some very clever moments.  Like Jacob Marley asking them not to breakout into song every time they have a new development in the plot.  Tracey Morgan is no Norm McDonald, but he's an okay death.  As always, Ryan Reynolds is worth the time spent.  Maybe not Will Ferrell but he's not bad either.   SPIRITED, Dir.
