  • Episode 80 - Planet of the Apes (1:07:50)

    10/06/2018 Duración: 01h07min

The 50th anniversary of the Planet of the Apes is as good a time as any to talk about this Charlton Heston classic that has spawned and respawned numerous sequels and prequels. Plus, recent controversy with Roseanne and DeRay make this so hot right now. We mostly focus on the original and the most recent entry into the franchise that helps close the loop on the interdimensional universe on the belt of Orion 320 light years from Earth. • Episode 79 - Fahrenheit 451 (1:07:59)

    03/06/2018 Duración: 01h07min

This week we discuss the new HBO film Fahrenheit 451 an adaptation of the Ray Bradbury novel of the same name. While not the best movie around, there are plenty of concepts to be sussed out and we only begin to scratch the surface on this one. It is a look into the future of the SJW-safe space culture warriors get their way, and that is downright scary. • Episode 78 - Evil Genius (56:34)

    27/05/2018 Duración: 56min

In our first foray outside of the realm of film, Robert and I take on the Netflix documentary EVIL GENIUS about one of the most bizarre bank heists in history. A scavenger hunt for an unwitting victim/perpetrator to rob a bank for $250,000 and then find clues to stop a collar around his neck from killing him goes awry and leads law enforcement down a years long journey into the mind of madness. • Episode 77 - Deadpool (1:15:02)

    20/05/2018 Duración: 01h15min

With the release of Deadpool 2 upon us, we felt it a good time to jump on that astro-turfed viral-marketing highway and do the original. This is a movie right up Robert's alley, so we go with some maximum effort and fanboi out a touch. This goes a bit longer than we have as late but there’s plenty of discussion and mirth to be had on this episode. Enjoy. • Episode 76 - Bee Movie (1:05:35)

    13/05/2018 Duración: 01h05min

Robert and I get into animal rights, sentience, and “exploitation” while we discuss Bee Movie, 2007 Jerry Seinfeld animated flick. It’s really about some SJW-activist type who gets indignant about a thing, whines to government to fix the "injustice", GETS what he wants; and things fall to shit. They realize that the original arrangement, the "spontaneous order of the market arrangement" was actually the best option so they go back to that.Show notez and more at: http://www.actualanarchy.com/76Actual Anarchy is real world examples of anarchy in action.Movies, Shows, Books, News, etc… we host all sorts of content on the site from a bevy of writers enthusiastic for one goal: human freedomRead Rothbard – Become an Actual AnarchistPRESENTED BYRead Rothbard is comprised of a small group of voluntaryists who are fans of Murray N. • Episode 75 – Nacho Libre (1:21:26)

    06/05/2018 Duración: 01h21min

Robert and I wrestle with cultural appropriation as we attempt to believe in science and pin Nacho Libre. This is a fun discussion on a movie where we have wide disagreement. Berated all his life by those around him, a Friar (Black) follows his dream and dons a mask to moonlight as a 'Luchador' (wrestler). Nacho Libre is a sports comedy film directed by Jared Hess and written by Jared and Jerusha Hess and Mike White. It stars Jack Black, and is loosely based on the story of Fray Tormenta ("Friar Storm", a.k.a. Rev. Sergio Gutiérrez Benítez), a real-life Mexican Catholic priest who had a 23-year career as a masked luchador and competed in order to support the orphanage he directed. You boys like Mexico? As the sequel is about to hit theaters, we revist an old classic (that hasn't aged well), Super Troopers. Five Vermont state troopers, avid pranksters with a knack for screwing up, try to save their jobs and out-do the local police department by solving a crime.Super Troopers is a 2001 American crime-comedy film directed by Jay Chandrasekhar, written by and starring the Broken Lizard comedy group (Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske). We get into "Hero" a mythical retelling of the historical story of the first emperor of China who used military conquest in a bid to unite the country and implement peace. Not to be confused with the Mariah Carey movie of the same name, Hero starring martial arts legend Jet Li in a visually stunning martial arts epic where a fearless warrior rises up to defy an empire and unite a nation! With supernatural skill ... and no fear ... a nameless soldier embarks on a mission of revenge against the fearsome army that massacred his people.Let's just say that we find the means dubious to attempt to achieve a noble goal.Show notes: http://www.ActualAnarchy.com/71Robert and I analyze popular movies from a Rothbardian/Anarcho-Capitalist perspective. We use movies as a starting point for people who may not be familiar with this way of thinking.   Discussion of the plot and decisions that characters make in relation to morality and violations of the non-aggression principle are our bread and butter. We also will highlight an

Happy Easter everyone. We do a movie with a namesake related to the holiday and discuss 1996's, "The Last Supper". It's about the type of people who think they are so smart and can fix everything wrong with the world, if it weren't for the backwards heathens preventing them. Their smug solution is of course: murderJust like all the totalitarian dictators (democratic or otherwise), just on a smaller scale. We hope you enjoy this unstructured, if lively discussion, where Robert and I are at odds on the film.Show notes are more at http://www.ActualAnarchy.com/70Robert and I analyze popular movies from a Rothbardian/AnarchoCapitalist perspective. We use movies as a starting point for people who may not be familiar with this way of thinking.   Discussion of the plot and decisions that characters make in relation to morality and violations of the non-aggression principle are our bread and butter. We also will highlight and discuss any themes or lessons from Austrian Economics that we can glean from the film. The poin

    11/03/2018 Duración: 59min

We discuss the Will Smith film, "The Pursuit of Happyness" and get into a heated debate over whether this is an inspirational story about an entrepreneurial dreamer, or a guy with misplaced priorities making stupid choices and putting his child at risk. This is a fun one. Will Smith stars in this moving tale inspired by the true story about a struggling single father who dreams of a better life for his young son. • Episode 66 - Cars (54:23)

    04/03/2018 Duración: 54min

We get our kicks on Route 66 doing an analysis of the Disney/Pixar film, Cars. It has a luddite-ish “buy local” message, which has a nostalgic element, but at a cost of a lower standard of living. Still, there is enough story and character arc to make it a pleasant enough watch. Robert and I take a dive into the world of Blade Runner where warrants aren't necessary and either is a scrolling text that is large enough to read. This was a followup to the cult-classic, sci-fi film noir, Blade Runner where replicants and humans have a rocky coexistence once free will is discovered by the replicant slaves. This is a beautiful movie that has taken great care in the craft of film making, has a deliberate pace that realizes the vision of the director. 18/02/2018 Duración: 52min

In what may become a routine feature, we do a foreign film from South Korea that has a bit of a cult following in the US, I Saw the Devil. This one is timely as the Olympics are currently taking place there and has plenty on offer. It's a story of revenge where the aggrieved party takes justice into their own hands, and fights fire with fire, becoming the monster he is hunting.Kyung-chul (Choi Min-sik) is a dangerous psychopath who kills for pleasure. He has committed infernal serial murders in diabolic ways that one cannot even imagine and his victims range from young women to even children. The police have chased him for a long time, but were unable to catch him. One day, Joo-yeon, daughter of a retired police chief becomes his prey and is found dead in a horrific state. We go back to the Bill Murray well....again. It's Groundhog Day on the Actual Anarchy Podcast. A movie that despite being 25 years old now, holds up very well. Bill Murray is at his wry, wisecracking best in this riotous romantic comedy about a weatherman caught in a personal time warp on the worst day of his life. Teamed with a relentlessly cheerful producer (Andie MacDowell) and a smart-aleck cameraman (Chris Elliott), TV weatherman Phil Connors (Bill Murray) is sent to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, to cover the annual Groundhog Day festivities.
