MyMac Podcast 872: Nifty Gifty's
21/11/2021 Duración: 01h06minAh the season of Black Friday madness is nearly here and with it comes the shouts of happiness and screams of "HEY! That's MY parking space!" at 3 in the morning to get a 50-inch off brand 4K TV set from an unpronounceable Chinese manufacturer for $200. Well, we're better than that aren't we? No? Well, we're likely buy better stuff anyway.

MyMac Podcast 871: Expanding Apple
07/11/2021 Duración: 01h10minApple's big growth days in their existing markets are likely pretty much over. Sure they sell a few more gizmos in each segment each quarter, but their share is pretty much stagnant within a few percentage points. So where are they likely to go to next?

MyMac Podcast 870: M1X-Pro(MAX)-Ultra
31/10/2021 Duración: 01h03minThere are times when vastly more important things come up than recording the 870th episode of a long running podcast. However going to see the Ravens lose to the Bengals isn’t likely on that list. However what did we miss anyway? Oh yeah new processors and laptops. Meh, who was paying attention to that? Somehow Guy gets through this week show even though he's booster-sick
-
MyMac Podcast 869: Sorry, what did you say
18/10/2021 Duración: 01h15minWhy is there an Apple event scheduled for a Monday? Has the very course of time and space been altered in such a way was to warp the very fabric of reality and Kleenex tissues? No, I think it’s Tim Cook just having a laugh.

MyMac Podcast 867: Data Dumped
10/10/2021 Duración: 49minA data dump usually means a massive transfer from one place to another. In this case it meant a dying enclosure and two failed hard drives. A bit of bad luck for Guy turns into a teachable moment

MyMac Podcast 867: So we're back
04/10/2021 Duración: 01h19minBelieve it or not, we had sort of intended to do a show from Macstock or nearby at least, but circumstanced deemed otherwise. Some virtual (but very real) technical issues, audio feedback, and the fact that Guy took a laptop running a Mojave beta (so no Rogue Amoeba apps could be run) meant that frankly it was just impossible. It also didn’t matter how many microphones Guy took with him (over 10) no matter what he thought at the time he was gathering them.

MyMac Podcast 866: Macstockio!
19/09/2021 Duración: 01h29minMike Potter that MacStock Wizard is getting ready to host another Macstock in Woodstock, Illinois. Like last year, he’ll wave his magic wand and make it all virtual! Well most of it anyway.

MyMac Podcast 865: Holy Crap! News?
12/09/2021 Duración: 01h15minNo matter what some may say, there is no such thing as good or bad news, there’s just news. However the LACK of news lately has been Maddening (pun intended), so the announcement of an event on Tuesday, September 14th fills our hearts with glee, sunshine and rainbows, THAT IS good news!

MyMac Podcast 864: AR VR Oh Ere
05/09/2021 Duración: 57minGuy is away and so I very nearly decided to take the week off from recording as well, then I met up up a listener and he said ‘what’s all this about no recording next week’ so I said well come on and we’ll do a show, so with no further ado……. Karl the Mad Madden
-
MyMac Podcast 863: It used to be easy
29/08/2021 Duración: 59minRemember when simplicity was actually almost built-in to Apple products? When presenters would stand on stage and say “All you need to do is push this button and we’ll do all the heavy lifting.” Those days? LONG gone.
-
MyMac Podcast 862: Golden Age of Apps
20/08/2021 Duración: 01h16minRecent experiments by Guy has made him start to think. A dangerous precedent that you would believe the world would want to avoid, but they did it anyway. Is the current crop of emulation of not just X86 coded apps, but iOS and iPadOS apps a look into the future? Are we getting closer to that time when what OS you're running is irrelevant? That’s the subject for the next section anyway.
-
MyMac Podcast 861: NOW we’re getting somewhere
15/08/2021 Duración: 54minThat pesky Apple Car just won’t go away! Just when you thought it was safe to start looking at what analysts say again, this crops up once again proving the old saying…”Analysts are idiots who will say anything to get you to part ways with your money in the direction they’re being paid to tell you to spend it at.”. OK, the saying might not be old, in fact we may have made it up here on the spot, but it it doesn’t make it any less true.
-
MyMac Podcast 860: Your stuff is our stuff
08/08/2021 Duración: 01h21minApple is the company that gives and then takes away. Announcements have been made that they are going to start scanning users Photos library to help stop underage exploitation and while that is a lofty goal, what does it mean in regards to user’s privacy that Apple has touted in their press clippings?
-
MyMac Podcast 859: What's Karl got going on?
01/08/2021 Duración: 01h16minGaz is off doing all things Gaz this week so Karl Madden graciously allowed himself to be blackmailed into being on. For fulfilling his end of the deal, those pictures will never be released to the general public. They go into their recording setup and gear because there's not really all that much else going on and Guy LOVES talking about that stuff.
-
MyMac Podcast 858: So, what's left?
25/07/2021 Duración: 01h10minWith fall about to drop in about a month, a lot people begin to focus of new iPhones. However with the transition away from Intel for the Macs, it has been a very chaotic kind of year not even including a global pandemic. The M1 Macs have been pretty good, but there’s lots of room for improvement with the Macs that haven’t gotten out of the labs yet.

MyMac Podcast 857: Monterey Musings (part 2)
12/07/2021 Duración: 01h12minWe talked about some of the new features coming up for macOS Monterey last week and said we'd talk some more about it this week...which is what we're going to do. So that shouldn't be all that surprising.
-
MyMac Podcast 856: Monterey Musings (part 1)
03/07/2021 Duración: 01h17minThe first public beta for macOS Monterey is now out and SO many people are talking about, so we thought we might too! Because we’re all about getting out the information our listeners demand! Oooor…we just like jumping on any bandwagon that we can. There’ll be more on this next week for the bits we didn’t get to this time.
-
MyMac Podcast 855: Monopoly
28/06/2021 Duración: 01h18minLots of talk from Capital Hill in regards to those naughty big tech companies. Congress wants them to play by the same rules as the average person as if the average person could create a big tech company…or that they could either. Oddly enough, Apple is probably in less of a fix as the other four, by these bills definition.

MyMac Podcast 854: No Place like Home(Kit)
21/06/2021 Duración: 01h09minThere are several standards in regards to home automation. Reaching back into the Jurassic age there was X-10 which made it possible to connect several devices to a home security monitored (by someone else) system. However it wasn’t very interactive once set up. Coming into the modern age besides Apple’s Homekit there’s Belkin’s Wemo (now discontinued), SmartThings, Ankuoo, D-Link, and TP-Link amongst others.

MyMac Podcast 853: Dun dun DUUUUUUN!
14/06/2021 Duración: 01h21minDub-dub 2021 is now fading away but all the great stuff they revealed is open for review! Like…that thing…where they…did, stuff?
