Songs of the People: Indigenous Roots of Black Folk Music is a 28-minute audio program hosted by Benjamin Mertz, a song leader in the Black Spiritual tradition. The program will look at pre-20th Century Black music as a folk tradition, exploring its connections to its African ancestry and its similarities to the traditional music of the First Nations in North America. With work songs, drum circles, sacred chants, and songs evoking the imagery of rivers and mountains, Black Spiritual music lives hand-in-hand with other Indigenous music traditions.

She talks about how an attack on tribal sovereignty motivated her to take action, and what it took to flip a seat. Paulette is an enrolled citizen of the Coeur d’Alene tribe. She also has Sinkiuse, Nez Perce, and Yakama-Palus ancestry.

The 10th round of the 61st Annual Wrangler National Finals Rodeo concluded Saturday night in Las Vegas, Nevada, December 14, 2019. This is the 35th time that the WNFR has been in the city of lights and it has sold out 350 performances since 1985. Indian Country fared well in the team roping competition with Navajo, Erich Rogers and Cherokee, Brenton Hall winning over $26,000 combined. The 44th Annual Indian National Finals Rodeo concluded Saturday night, October 26, 2019 at the South Point Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. INFR World Champions were crowned we have the results and in each respective event. Approximately four dozen tribal affiliation were represented with 400 contestants vying for the titles and $1 million in prize money. We also visit with NFR qualifier and Ride Pass commentator, Colemen Proctor of the Cherokee Nation.
