#134 - Stranger Things (Season 4, Volume 1) / Pistol (Episodes 1 & 2)
05/06/2022 Duración: 01h20minThe old guard of streaming, Netflix and (FX on) Hulu, have each presented a big summer show to entice subscribers, so Down to Watch has something to say about these nerds and punks! Dan and Raul have seen a few episodes of Pistol, the Danny Boyle helmed biopic series about the Sex Pistols, as well a ton of the first volume of the fourth season of Stranger Things. Boyle clearly has the talent to tell the story of Johnny Rotten, Sid Vicious and the punk scene, but did the man known for swings like Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire and 28 Days Later land on the right tone for youthful anarchy translated to today's audiences? Then, the Netflix stalwart 80s style juggernaut comes back to many fan's delight, but are the DtW hosts among them? You don't need upside-down brain powers to find out, just listen to the pod! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtopod/message

#133 - June 2022 TV Premieres
29/05/2022 Duración: 01h30minSummer is starting and Down to Watch is ready to tell you about all the shows that will fill the longer days and warmer weather! Dan and Raul go over last month's TV progress reports with their usual respective grades and some thoughts about how those shows are faring, but then it's right into the new stuff. June is no longer the barren television wasteland it once was, and the major streamers have plenty of new shows to preview. The conversation includes a handful of returning shows covered by DTW in the past such as The Boys, Westworld, Only Murders in the Building and Physical, as well as the freshman seasons of a bunch of new offerings. The MCU has a Ms. Marvel to present to younger audiences, Maya Rudolph got her hands on some Loot, Iron Chefs will attempt to reach Legend status, Bridges moves from The Dude to The Old Man, Dark Winds might be Twin Peaks on a reservation... and plenty more included on this summer school cheat sheet. Come listen, we got the answer key! --- Send in a voice mes

#132 - Moon Knight / Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
21/05/2022 Duración: 01h39minDan and Raul welcome back Jonnie to discuss all things Marvel, but first a few new pieces of business were to be handled including a quick discussion on season one of Winning Time (HBO). Dan and Jonnie for the most part really dig the show and look forward to season two. The new trailer for She-Hulk was mentioned as well, but the guys are suspect on what genre exactly this show will be aiming to delve into with it seeming like it should be a "case a week" for this lawyer-lady-hulk to handle some legal business, but then where does the comic book specifics get involved?...we will have to wait until August 2022 to see! Moon Knight just completed its 6 episode run, so listen as the guys mention the series success in being a huge step forward in its inclusion of characters and cultures as the MCU hasn't included much in its run of TV shows and movies thus far, but seems to be striving to be more diverse and come from a more worldly point of view. The pyramids and tombs stuff gets to be a

#131 - Russian Doll (Season 2)
10/05/2022 Duración: 01h18minRussian Doll is back on Netflix for all the sweet birthday babies! This week, Down to Watch revisits the story of Natasha Lyonne and friend breaking reality and doing stuff that was already done. Both Dan and Raul enjoyed the first season plenty, with strong performances and a twisty, neat take on a Groundhog's Day-like voyage of personal discovery. Now after a lengthy production delay, Netflix has finished the next part of Nadia and Alan's journey, but does it live up to the expectations held by fans of the first season or is this a rehash of a show about rehashes? Listen to find out, then listen to find out! Then do it again! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtopod/message

#130 - May 2022 TV Premieres!
02/05/2022 Duración: 01h41minThe future looks so bright with all these shiny new shows! Down to Watch is back again with another look at the upcoming month of May in what is primarily a streaming landscape nowadays. Dan and Raul scoured the trades and tv schedules to deliver info on premieres about L.A. icons of celebrity, laser swords and sex pistols, true crimes and metaphoric monsters, meltdowns, Mike Myers and more! Plenty of returning shows and thoughts on the newest batch of upcoming programming make this an episode and a half at the regular price, but who knows how long that deal's gonna last... --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtopod/message

#129 - Roar (2022) / Outer Range
17/04/2022 Duración: 01h17minEating photographs...Investigating your own murder as a ghost...A massive infinite hole in the ground...and Drowning Pool, the band...what the what?? Dan and Raul dig into two new TV offerings that were very recently released. Roar, over on AppleTV+ offers an anthology series based centrally on feminist stories (The guys cover primarily the Nicole Kidman and Alison Brie episodes), and Outer Range (Amazon), a modern western with a twilight-zone twist. Both these shows don't exist completely in our reality, although they present themes and offer the opportunity for greater discussion on humanist tropes in fresh new ways. DTW hopes you will alter your reality and join the discourse, literally! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtopod/message

#128 - Halo (Season 1, Episodes 1&2) / Atlanta (Season 3, Episodes 1&2)
11/04/2022 Duración: 01h19minDown to Watch is back with a couple of April shows worth talking about! After a week off processing the overstuffed April-Upcomings episode, Dan and Raul are back to grab a couple off of the top of the heap and discuss Halo and the first two episodes of Atlanta season 2. The sci-fi first-person shooter turned live action big budget tentpole for Paramaount+ has a built in audience, but can Halo survive the trek across mediums and the alterations it comes with? Also, Atlanta returns with two episodes to launch a third season over three years after the second ended, but decides to come off the blocks with a very challenging and unconventional episode before sliding back into what it's done well since the beginning. In case you're wondering whether these shows and their showrunners are making the right calls or the wrong moves, this podcast will tell you the answers! Lucky you! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtopod/message

Dan and Raul are keeping current with the streaming releases mentioned in their monthly upcoming pods, and this week they watched the first episode of the WeWork docu-drama starring Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway where there is plenty to discuss, from Jared Leto channeling The Room's Tommy Wiseau to the dramatized rags to riches (and sometimes back to rags?) trends in streaming storytelling. Before that, the guys go over the new Amazon Prime animated anthology, Diabolical, which sees different art styles on display and how connected these 'toon short films fit in the world of, The Boys. This is an episode about two shows worth talking about, definitely worth listening to, too! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtopod/message

#125 - Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty (Episode 1)
14/03/2022 Duración: 01h20minThis week, Down to Watch is checking in with a galaxy far away and a dynasty close to home! Dan and Raul are joined by Jonnie this week, so of course the conversation starts off with one of the biggest pop culture properties as they move their big screen stars onto their streaming service. Disney unveiled a trailer for Obi Wan Kenobi, a new limited series from the Star Wars film world, so the guys predict the future of The House of Mouse's big space opera. They move on to the topic of the week, the freshly minted HBO series, Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty. All the hosts have seen the first episode and trade opinions on the style, casting, and direction of the show, as well as some of the social commentary. This episode is Magic! And Old Ben! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtopod/message

Dan and Raul both caught the beginning of Joe Vs Carole, the Peacock-based docu-dramedy sprung from the Tiger King phenomenon based on the cartoonish blood feud between the titular characters. #122 - Severance / Reacher / Pam & Tommy
20/02/2022 Duración: 01h16minDan and Raul go corporate this week on DTW discussing the new AppleTV+ show, Severance. The work/life balance has always been rough for people, but this dystopian near-future view of workers takes it to a whole new creative level and tells us there is a creepy solution to solve this conundrum...think Maniac (a great Netflix sci-fi series) mixed with a bit of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and a dash of Black Mirror. The guys liked it much and think most humans will too! Shows also covered this week include Reacher (new to Amazon), a great blend of detective murder mystery and fisticuffs, Pam & Tommy over on Hulu provides greater context to the origins of how the infamous sex tape leaked and what affect it had on Pamela Anderson due to the poor media coverage. Theres a few other TV offerings the guys quickly discuss, so listen ahead to find out!! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtopod/message

#121 - Jackass Forever
07/02/2022 Duración: 01h30minThis week, four friends joke around about Jackass Forever! The last episode before the podcast becomes an L.A./S.F. collaboration, Dan and Raul are lucky to have both Natalia AND Jonnie back to talk about a fourth (and final?) round of the Jackass crew committing grievous bodily harm to themselves for the enjoyment of others, with various levels of regret. With the jackasses having provided two decades of creativity, bravery and heart poured into a passion project aimed solely at delighting fans and each other, the DtW crew discusses whether Knoxville and Co earned the amount of uncensored male genitalia being damaged on such a large screen. The positives and negatives of aging show on the team of stunt goofballs tossing themselves across the big silver screen, and talking about it makes a great podcast so go listen! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtopod/message

Returning guest, Hannah, joins Dan and Raul to breakdown this complex, time-shifting new HBO Max limited series; a great heartfelt and humanistic take on what the world during an apocalypse could potentially look like if actor's kept the performance alive! #115 - The Long Kiss Goodnight
12/12/2021 Duración: 01h24minDTW begins a new discussion series based on 90's genre movies that deserve a rewatch, as they could be potentially under-appreciated gems or simply films of the time that are essential to the era. Today, Dan and Raul dive into the chilly frozen waters of an action/adventure movie not widely on many lists as a Christmas classic, but the guys seek to uncover if this really deserves to be considered as worthy of the moniker or if it has aged so poorly it should just be left on the back of the shelf to wither away along side the other dusty VHS tapes lost to time in the digital era! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtopod/message
