25/01/2023 Duración: 08minRemembering Pope Benedict XVI With the passing of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI I wanted to share some personal reflections about Pope Benedict and what he's meant in my life. I will miss him but am grateful for his witness and teaching of the faith. Here's a link to his Vatican webpage where you can access his writings: https://www.vatican.va/content/benedict-xvi/en.html Two of my favorite writings of Pope Benedict are "Deus Caritas Est" (God is Love) and Spirit of the Liturgy which offers phenomenal reflections and teachings on the liturgy. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in peace. God bless, Fr. Chris Visit us: https://www.smarymag.org Donate online: https://membership.faithdirect.net/AZ754

28/12/2022 Duración: 04minMerry Christmas Merry Christmas! May the birth of our Lord bring you great joy! The prayer I read at the end, you'll find the full text below from St. Charles de Foucauld The Nativity. From Mediations of a hermit: "I was born, born for you, born in a cave, in December, in the cold, on a wintry night, in poverty and in solitude, unknown even to the poorest. Why was I born in this way? So that you may believe in my love, since my love for you known no limit. As I have loved you so much, put all your hope in me. I teach you to love me. Loving you with such tender love it was not enough for me to give myself to the world in the Incarnation. Ever since my birth I have shown myself to you and have put myself entirely into your hands. Ever since then you have been able to see me, hold me, hear me, serve me, console me. Love me, love me, for I am close to you. I give myself to you completely. In my great goodness I did not give myself to you just at my birth for a few days or years, but I gave myself into your hand

03/12/2022 Duración: 08minJourneying with Mary through Advent Hello St. Mary Magdalene, Happy Advent! This is my favorite time of year. There's a palatable joy and eagerness as we await the coming of Christ. During this season too, we have an incredible opportunity to walk with Mary in her final month of pregnancy and await the birth of Christ and His breaking into our world. What a gift! Let Mary walk with you and help to fill your heart with joy in anticipation of Christ's coming. Make sure too, that you take time to spiritually prepare for Christ's coming. He enters our world and breaks into our lives so that we may never be the same! May Our Lady guide and intercede for us so that our joy may be complete when Christ comes! Let’s pray: “Dear Lord, please allow us to embrace Advent in the way the Church intends: as a way to prepare for Your arrival. May everything we do–every gift we send, every party we attend, every meal we share–remind us to prepare space in our hearts for You. Amen.” God bless, Fr. Chris Visit us: https:/

26/11/2022 Duración: 06minHappy Advent! Hello St. Mary Magdalene, Thanks for tuning in to this week’s video. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It’s hard to believe that this weekend is the First Sunday of Advent, the start of a new liturgical year and the time of preparation for Christ’s coming. This is a fantastic season of hope and expectation and one of my favorite times of year. So, amidst the preparation for Christmas let’s not forget to prepare your heart, mind, and soul for the coming of Christ so that our joy may be full at His coming. Throughout each day in Advent, do something intentional to help both grow your faith and to become more aware of how and where Christ is present in your life. Also, I wanted to announce that beginning this weekend, we’ll be bringing back the Precious Blood for distribution during Mass. I know this is cold and flu season but the chalice is optional, you don’t have to receive it if you don’t want to. While not necessary to receive from the chalice, the Church also teaches that receiving t

18/11/2022 Duración: 05minHappy Veterans Day/Liturgy Interlude Thanks for tuning in to this week's video and thank you all for a wonderful Novemberfest! I had a great time seeing everyone and enjoying fellowship throughout the afternoon. A big shout out to everyone who helped make the event a success, thank you for your efforts! Thank you as well to our veterans for your sacrifices and service to our nation which enable us to enjoy the liberties of this great nation. May the Lord bless you and keep you and your families. Lastly, meet a "how to" guide for the Mass, the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM). This book contains a lot of the technical aspects of the liturgy specifically regarding gestures, postures, degree of solemnity, etc. It's an extremely useful book that I reference regularly.
