We attended CSUN’s Assistive Technology Conference and I've got an overview of what we learned along with interviews with Assistivewear about Proloquo2Go, their AAC App, and Ocutech low vision aids, and I'll tell you about QD Laser's retinal projection eyewear called Retissa. Mixed in with all the CSUN talk we've got a review by Allister Jenks about SleepPhones (he calls them pajamas for your ears)) and I've got a review of the Ampere Unravel and Qi charing case for AirPods. It's a fun-filled, action packed show!

I start off with what’s supposed to be a review of the OWC 14-port Thunderbolt 3 dock but which turns into a lesson on USB and Thunderbolt speeds and specs but does do a comparison of the OWC against the other docks I’ve reviewed. Then Allister Jenks tells us about the to do app GoodTask 3 that uses your Reminders data. Then I’ll take a deep dive into a cool tool from WebAIM that lets you find out how accessible a website is and how to fix it. Nerdy good fun. The Bart Busschots is back with installment in the never-ending saga that is Security Bits.

We've got a CES interview with Ring talking about their smart lighting and doorbells for people in apartments. Caleb brings us a review of Emmet, a plugin for web developers that makes writing HTML code easier and more efficient. We talk to Vispero about their assistive technologies, and then to SureCall about a cell signal booster for the car that could be a huge help for truckers, motor home drivers, and people who live in remote areas. We hear about MPowerd's solar-powered lights that are helping the planet. We end with the last CES interview, which is with WHILL who have made a wheel chair that could help people in places like airports find their way around by themselves.

We've got more interviews from CES, starting with one with Omnicharge about their portable power banks that allow us to charge USB-C-enabled laptops directly. Then I'll tell you the tale of the rabbit hole I fell down when trying to use Markdown in a locally-hosted WordPress installation on my Mac so that I could show it in a video tutorial about MarsEdit for ScreenCasts Online. We'll hear about Targus's up and coming video docking stations that will provide more video out than you may have seen before. We'll hear about how Bitdefender BOX 2 might help to secure your network from within your house. Then Bart Busschots is back with another installment of Security Bits.

Donald Burr returns to Chit Chat Across the Pond after a long hiatus to tell us about how you can build your own 3D printer. We've got an interview with one of my favorite companies, Nite Ize about their new RunOff waterproof containers. We talk to Brydge about their new line of keyboards for the new iPads Pro. I'll give you Steve and my impressions of the Axis Gear smart shade controller from installation to usage (for lazy people). We interview Square Off about their smart chessboard that lets you play real chess with moving pieces with someone in another part of the world. GoSun Solar tells us about their solar cookers. I take a walk down memory lane of when we lost Save As in OSX Lion and how I finally found a spot where it had great value. Finally IOGEAR tells us about their video and gaming devices.

In this week's show I'll start out with the tale of how I got instantly improved vision by cataract surgery. Then we'll get into more tradition tech with a CES interview of EyeQue, an in-home vision testing system that is supposed to get your prescription and your pupillary distance, eliminating the need to have a vision specialist do it for you. Then we'll talk to the folks at Votion who have their own HomeKit-compatible ecosystem of Home Automation devices and who help other companies become HomeKit compatible. We recently installed the Ring Alarm system and I'll tell you all about that. We interview a company called Axis with their Gear product designed to automate opening and closing your curtains or blinds. Then GUNNAR Optiks shows us their stylish line of eyeglasses designed to help reduce eye strain and block blue light from your eyes. The security world didn't sleep in the last two weeks so Bart Busschots brings us _three_ Security Mediums along with Security Bits.

We have a lot of CES interviews interspersed with reviews and stories from me, Kevin and Bart. We start with Ohmnilabs affordable robots and their hope to help those with disabilities. Kevin Allder gives us his first impressions of the 12.9" iPad Pro weighing its strengths and weaknesses. I interview Solo New York about their amazing "lifestyle" bags (spoiler, I really want one.). I'll tell you how I hardcoded the Subscribe to the Podcasts page using the programming skills Bart taught us in Programming By Stealth. We'll hear About ALOGIC's line of USB-C Docks and power banks and B-Secure will tell us how HeartKey can monitor stress and exhaustion in first responders. Bart chimes in with a response to Shai and my discussion of how social media makes us feel with his story of his social media detox and segregation. We'll hear about PAI's interactive robot construction kit for children in an interview with none other than Shai Yammanee at CES. Finally we'll hear about Blue's new Blue Ember XLR microphone

In this mega-show, we've got six awesome interviews from CES. We'll hear about a school bus tracking system called Here Comes the bus, we've got a Bluetooth speaker shaped like a ball from Cylo that you can play with in the pool, a set of binoculars that could change the whole concept, a tablet just for taking notes that feels like real paper called reMarkable, a sonogram device to tell when your bladder is full called Free, and a system designed to help care for loved ones who might need a little help called Hive Link. After that we've got a giant episode of Security Bits with Bart Busschots.

In this action packed show we've got interviews from CES with with Ampere about a really cool charger, a dash cam from Owl Camera, a long interview with the CEO of one of our favorite companies, OWC, and a nifty alarm clock company you’ve heard about before called Sandman. We’ve also got an interview about Mycroft AI, an open source digital assistant followed by my story of how I actually made my own Mycroft AI.

We're back from CES with tons of amazing interviews. I'll tell you a couple of fun stories about the show and then we'll hear four interviews. We've got the MaxDrive which is storage for you Wyze Cam videos. Then the American Printing House for the Blind shows off a reference device that has full pages of cells rather than just one line. Royole shows off their flexible tablet/smartphone display (and no, it's not vaporware, I played with it myself!) Danby shows off their Parcel Guard, which is a giant mailbox you put at your house that allows delivery people to securely give you your packages. After all that fun we've got another installment of Security Bits with Bart Busschots.

In this action-packed episode we really only have two topics. I'll tell you how I'm in love with the Mimeo Photos extension for Apple Photos to make calendars. Then Bart is here for an out-of-band Security Bits so we don't have to wait three weeks for an installment.

I had the pleasure of being on the Daily Tech News Show 2019 Predictions show at dailytechnewsshow.com. Terry Vogelaar explains how he diagnosed and fixed a very curious problem where mail he sent via Gmail appeared to come from his wife. I'll tell you about how happy my Ember Ceramic Smart Mug makes me. Troy Shimkus tells us about Rocketbook including its shortcomings. Then Bart tells us about how he replaced his very old, cobbled together router with a new router but the same great software called PFSense.

I'll tell you the story of how I helped a friend of mine's father-in-law who had some recent vision loss combined with hearing loss and why I think the effort was successful. We've got a Dumb Question about how to figure out how big images are on iOS. We have two Tiny Tips - one on how to get your iPhone battery replaced before the end of the year at Best Buy and how to remove backgrounds from photos at remove.bg. We'll close out the show with Steve's annual "special" rendition of The Night Before Christmas.
