    10/06/2018 Duración: 44min

Our special guest is Stephen P. Stratton, Ph.D., co-author of the book, Listening to Sexual Minorities: A Study of Faith and Sexual Identity on Christian College Campuses and a Professor of Counseling and Pastoral Care and a licensed psychologist (KY).  Previous to his full-time appointment at Asbury Theological Seminary in 2006, he served as an adjunct professor at Asbury University, where he was the Director of the Center for Counseling for 18 years.  He is an Approved Supervisor for the Kentucky Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and a Health Service Provider/Supervisor for the Kentucky Board of Psychology.   Students arrive on campus with various boxes of belongings to unpack, some heavy, some tidy, some more valuable, some more private. For many students, two of these boxes could be labeled "My Faith" and "My Sexuality"—and these two can be among the most cumbersome to handle. How to balance the two without having to set one down? How to hold them both closely, both securely, but still move forwa

  • A story of the Holocaust: Andrew Burian, A Boy from Bustina

    08/06/2018 Duración: 01h15min

Our special guests are Andrew Burian, his wife Ruth, and son Lawrence, who share the story of the Holocaust in a memoir called The Boy from Bustina: A Son, A Survivor, A Witness.  A sheltered boy from the small town of Bustina (then Czechoslovakia, now Ukraine), Andrew had a beautiful carefree childhood. At the age of thirteen, his world was shattered. Andrew's wartime odyssey began with deportation from his hometown to Mateszalka ghetto in Hungary. From there, Andrew and his family were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau, where he survived countless selections and near death experiences. In the freezing winter of 1945, he survived the infamous 'death march' evacuation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and was loaded into a cattle car for the long journey to the Mauthausen concentration camp in Austria. Andrew survived another death-march to the Gunskirchen concentration camp from which he was ultimately liberated by the U.S. army. Andrew's journey took him through Hungary, Poland, Austria, Czechoslovakia, England and, final

  • Konrad Zukowski: The inventor of the Kaotica Eyeball

    23/05/2018 Duración: 36min

Our special guest is Konrad Zukowski, the inventor of the Kaotica Eyeball, a groundbreaking invention that allows everyone to have studio quality in a beautifully designed mobile acoustic solution. It's the evolution of vocal recording. Traditionally, you’d rig up foam on the walls or soundproof the room with blankets. Whether you rent or own, you don’t necessarily want to be putting holes in the walls. Even if you are committed to foaming everything up, it may not enhance the acoustics, unless you’re an acoustician. Kaotica firmly believes that you shouldn’t have to think about the room you’re recording in. Instead, you should concentrate on your performance. Visit their website at www.kaoticaeyeball.com

  • Demanding Liberty: An untold story of American religious freedom

    17/05/2018 Duración: 37min

Our special guest is Dr. Brandon J. O'Brien, author of the book Demanding Liberty: An Untold Story of American Religious Freedom. Religious liberty is one of the most contentious political issues of our time. How should people of faith engage with the public square in a pluralist era? Some citizens hope to reclaim a more Christian vision of national identity, while others resist any religious presence at all. This dispute is not new, and it goes back to the founding era of American history. As the country was being formed, some envisioned a Christian nation where laws would require worship attendance and Sabbath observance. Others advocated for a thoroughly secular society where faith would have no place in public life. But neither extreme won the day, thanks to the unsung efforts of a Connecticut pastor who forged a middle way. Historian Brandon O'Brien unveils an untold story of how religious liberty came to be. Between the Scylla and Charybdis of theocracy and secularism, Baptist pastor Isaac Backus conte

After she explained what that meant, I produced it and even played the lead role of Jack. It was a big success. I think that's where I go the bug." "When I was 15 I saved money from my paper route and bought my first guitar. I just picked up where I had left off in the third grade and started writing songs. In our broken world, ethnicity and racial identity are often points of pain and injustice. We can’t ignore that God created us with our ethnic identities. We bring all of who we are, including our ethnicity and cultural background, to our identity and work as God's ambassadors. Ethnicity and evangelism spec

    17/11/2017 Duración: 28min

Our special guest is Dr. Jeffrey Arthurs, author of Preaching As Reminding: Stirring Memory in an Age of Forgetfulness. We know of the preacher’s roles as both teacher and proclaimer, but Jeffrey Arthurs adds another assignment: the Lord’s remembrancer. The remembrancer stirs the memory of Christ-followers, reminding them of the truths they once heard and fanning the flames of faith. We live in an age of forgetfulness, so when knowledge fades and conviction cools, the church needs to be reminded of the great truths of the faith. When done well, preaching as reminding is not empty, perfunctory repetition. Rather, it is the work of soul-watchers. Preaching as Reminding describes the dynamic role of the remembrancer, who prompts thankfulness and repentance, raises hope, fosters humility and wisdom, exhorts obedience, and encourages community. With decades of preaching experience, Arthurs explains how to stir memory through vivid language, story, delivery, and ceremony. He urges preachers to take up this task wi
