Emily talks story with Colin McConnell, Detroit Respect Clothing Line (detroitrespect.com) and Lifelong Detroiter Robin Ussery who works with Friends School.They share their experiences in Detroit since they were kids and their continued love for Detroit reflected in their work and play. Colin grew up in Highland Park and Robin's father was a long time basketball coach at Wayne State. Emily and Jeanette Pierce, D-Hive Detroit have many nice things to say about the success of 2014 Detroit Homecoming ...The efforts of Jim Hayes, Co-Founder of Detroit Homecoming, Mary Kramer, Crain's Detroit Business and so many created an event that served as a reminder that wherever we are we can do and say nice things for and about Detroit. Jeanette and I talk about the biking community in Detroit and how events like Slow Roll, Dine, Drink and Detroit, and recreation and commuter biking has brought communiities and neighborhoods together. My older brother Max Gail talks about being a part of the just released Jackie Robinson movie “42.” He played Burt Shotton, Jackie Robinson's major league manager with the Brooklyn Dodgers. I always enjoy talking with Max. My long time friend Jack Berry, recipient of the PGA Lifetime Achievement Award in Journalism and member of the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame has covered 43 Masters and shares some wonderful stories about the Masters and many milestone sporting events. I always enjoy talking with Jack too.

In 1982, Merv Lopes coached tiny NAIA Chaminade on Oahu in what is often considered the greatest college basketball upset in history when they defeated #1 ranked Virginia. He shares many heartwarming stories. Buster Bustamante was Director of Golf during the Mauna Lani Senior Skins, a made for TV four-player skins format that always featured Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus and was broadcast preceding the Super Bowl. Buster shares some nice stories. Emily gives an update on the new Jackie Robinson film, “42”. Emily's brother Max, who is playing the role of Bert Shoten, manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Emily and Max have enjoyed learning so much about that era of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier in MLB and the history of Negro League Baseball.

When I met Phil Coke, Detroit Tigers pitcher who earned played a pivotal roll in sending the Tigers to the World Series last year, it was at a Tigers game last year as he was signing autographs for fans. Phil told me about is Uncle Billy and Auntie Theresa, residents of the Big Island for 30 years and the reason he loves coming to the Big Island. . He said call them. So I did. I enjoyed our talk story about Phil, baseball and his ohana. Go Tigers!!! Go Phil.They share some fun stories about Phil working on his pitching at Makaeo Old Airport baseball field at our community park when he visits and loves interacting with the youth sports teams at the park. They talk about being Phil evolving from little league, and through all the levels of baseball before signing with the New York Yankees and now with the Detroit Tigers. Bob McElwee, who I have known for many years is one of the few NFL Referees who officiated 3 Super Bowls and the only referee to officiate a Super Bowl in 3 different decades will be a guest on the Emily T Gail Show which is available at espnhawaii.com under lineup. Bob’s final game was the Pro Bowl in 2003. Bob talks story about many of his experiences from his 27 years with the NFL. Tom Watson following his win at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai on the Big Island of Hawaii .It was a popular win as Tom and his wife Hillary own a home at Hualalai Resort and are very active in their community.
