Videodrome Radio Podcast

We're back!  Unfortunately, someone "fixed" the output signal from the control board at the radio station, so the sound quality of this episode is -- how you say? -- ah, yes: Abysmal.  We apologize in advance.  In any case, we talk about some old movies this week: The Iron Mask (1926), Design For Living (1933), and A Dangerous Method (2011).  OK, so that last one is new, but it takes place in the early 20th century.  Just pretend that you are listening to the show on an Edison Victrola, and it will all work out.

B.K. takes a holiday as Mr. Salamander and Hank discuss HBO's 24/7 Flyers/Rangers: Road to the NHL Winter Classic (2011-12) and the curse it carries, Cowboys & Aliens (2011), It's a Wonderful Life (1946), Santa Claus (1959), and Branded to Kill (1967).

This week, your hosts seek to avoid trouble for their boss by becoming drifters.  From a secret location, we broadcast our reviews of Lego Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Brick (2008) and the Blu-Ray of Tokyo Drifter (1966).  Plus, we discuss Batman theory and hear about some interesting deaths.

B.K. does some research and finds that Hot Coffee (2011) is more than just a punchline to frivolous lawsuit jokes.  Also, we discuss William Castle's Macabre (1958) and a documentary about him, Spine Tingler! The William Castle Story (2007).

Back from Thanksgiving and ready for Cyber Monday, the Videodrome crew review Billy Nayer (1992), The Man on the Moon (1993), The Ketchup and Mustard Man (1994), A Man Named Pearl (2006), The Haunting (1963), and Two on a Guillotine (1965).

Adventures into the deep!  FIRST: Hank dives down to the Monterey Bay Aquarium (Where you can be crushed!  Like an egg!).  SECOND: B.K. talks about some movie.  THIRD: Davie Lynch found some old footage from the classic date film, Blue Velvet (1986), and the Blu-Ray's got it!  FOURTH:  An Interesting Death!  FIFTH: Another date movie: Bellflower (2011), which shows that surviving in the post-apocalyptic world is a lot like surviving a really bad break-up.  With flames.  And with a bad-ass car.  And with a bad-ass car that shoots flames!

We have three horror films to present to you on this Halloween: Kuroneko (1968), Island of Lost Souls (1932), and Out of the Dark (1989).  Plus, B.K. and Hank discuss the new episodes of MTV's Beavis and Butt-head.  Oh, and there's an interesting death.

We're on vacation at Budget Rock this weekend and have a gift for those of you that long for ye olden days: Videodrome Classic! This one is a doozy!  It's the Tyler & Hank Hour.  Tyler reviews Unleashed (2005) and Hank talks up Night Of The Demon (1957).  Where's Mr. Salamander?  He was on vacation this weekend!  That's called Meta-Radio, folks.

Videodrome: Clara Bow Special Edition - Since Treasures 5: The West 1898-1938 just came out on DVD, we decided to not only review one of the films in the set -- Clara Bow in Mantrap (1926) -- but also to interview the curator of the Clara Bow Archive (http://clarabowarchive.tumblr.com/).   Hear about one of the most enigmatic stars of early Hollywood and how what was going on back then wasn't so different from how it is today.  Plus, B.K. cleans house on "Interesting Death of the Week" with B.K.

And we're back!  Back in the station, that is.  Oh, how we've missed its jury-rigged wiring!  In any case, we discuss new episodes for Arrested Development(!), George Lucas doing whatever the hell he wants because he's a billionaire, an Interesting Death of the Week™ with B.K.™, and Tucker and Dale vs. Evil (2010).

B.K. is back!  (Again!)  Plus, news about this year's Comic-Con, a preview of an extremely rare run of Abel Gance's silent epic, Napoleon (1927), and a review of Captain America: The First Avenger (2011).
