This the first episode of the newest sports radio show in Calgary: 'The Arena'. Co-Hosts Dave McIvor and Joe McFarland talk about what teams are doing to get people off the couch and into stadiums. Joe and Dave chat with Gary Lawless, Vegas Golden Knights Insider, and Austin Shaw, Manager of Gameday Presentation for the Calgary Roughnecks.

It has been an off season of change with the leadership group for the Calgary Stampeders but Alex Singleton is ready to step up and take over some of those leadership roles. 

With playoff hopes slipping away on a 4 game losing skid, the Calgary Flames needed some positive news and they got that today with the return of number one goalie Mike Smith.  Calgary Sun hockey writer Wes Gilbertson is with the team in Buffalo and we checked in on sports talk. 

He coached Canada to a silver medal in 1992 and in 2018 he was on the coaching staff that brought back bronze.  Dave King thinks NHL players will be back in the Olympics in 2022 in China and he says this was likely it for his coaching career.

he grew up in Dalemead, Alberta and played college ball in Texas.  He was drafted by Montreal, played for the Riders and last year was on the practice roster for the Eskimos. He's also a pretty good rodeo cowboy!  His dad was a world champion steer wrestler and two time Canadian champion.  Bryn will be hosting a football combine in Okotoks on Saturday, March 24th at the Crescent Point Regional field house.

What a way to end your Olympic career!

He is now a two time Olympic gold medalist as he won the first ever gold medal in mixed curling doubles with Kaitlyn Lawes. 

He won the President's ring in 2017, the Herm Harrison award as well.  He is a Grey Cup champion and he was a Calgary Stampeder team captain.  Now Joshua Bell starts the next chapter of his impressive football career. 

The Flames are on a 5 game losing skid, they have a below average power play and becuase of thier inconsistant play, they find themselves out of a playoff spot on January 31st.  What is wrong with the team?  Is their style of play costing them points in an ultra tough Western Conference?  Our NHL insider weighs in with his thoughts on Sportstalk with Jock!

With just over a month left in the Alberta Junior Hockey League season, guest host Dave McIvor chats with Tyler King. Tyler is the Play by Play man for the Brooks Bandits and host of The AJHL podcast. Tyler and Dave talk about how the season has gone to this point for most of the South Division teams and what can be expected in the stretch drive and playoffs.
