Today we'll discuss the unfortunately pervasive effects of nihilism seen in this week's news. • Don't Let It Go Unheard: Inspiration vs. Indoctrination

    23/05/2014 Duración: 02h21min

Weekly live webcast/podcast devoted to discussion of news and politics from the perspective of Ayn Rand's philosophy, Objectivism. Hosted by Amy Peikoff. Today's show title was inspired (pun intended) by the juxtaposition of two stories about the future of education in the United States. One story is about a new startup that aims to inspire grade school children to love and learn about science. The other is about a White House official who, after considering the system of educational indoctrination in China, concluded that, even in the United States, "high schools probably have a significant ability to move students toward what they consider 'a correct worldview, a correct view on life, and a correct value system.'" But, as we'll see, the theme can be carried beyond the realm of education, to Obama's use of his "pen and a phone," to his characterization of Obamacare, to Islam and other totalitarian religions, and more. This dichotomy might even help explain the success of non-liberal talk radio! Check out

  • DLIGU: "Some Men Just Want To Watch The World Burn"

    09/05/2014 Duración: 02h00s

Weekly live webcast/podcast devoted to discussion of news and politics from the perspective of Ayn Rand's philosophy, Objectivism. Hosted by Amy Peikoff. Today we will revisit Ayn Rand's essay, "Don't Let It Go," which was the inspiration for the name of my blog and my podcast. We'll look at our nation's actions, culture and sense of life, and ask: How are we doing in 2014 vs. in 1971, when Rand published the original essay? In the process we'll be discussing, as usual, some recent news stories. See Program Notes at www.dontletitgo.com for all the stories, etc., we plan to discuss.

  • DLIGU: Dude! A Pro-American Administration Is, Like, So Three Decades Ago!

    02/05/2014 Duración: 02h01min

Weekly live webcast/podcast devoted to discussion of news and politics from the perspective of Ayn Rand's philosophy, Objectivism. Hosted by Amy Peikoff. Today we can't resist talking about the Obama Administration lackey who called Brett Baier "Dude" on Fox News yesterday. It's a perfect encapsulation of the Obama Administration: Its conviction that it has the media in its pocket, its contempt for the American people, its lack of decorum, its refusal to be held accountable---both for its failure to do its job, and for its insistence on doing a whole bunch of things that aren't its job. A number of the stories we will discuss today touch on this theme, but there's a lot more as you'll see in the program notes at www.dontletitgo.com.
