  • [THE END] Moonlighting

    28/02/2023

A love so strong, the show is mentioned amongst some of the greatest romantic television shows of all time. It also held the record for having one of the most comically long onscreen makeouts ever. Does it hold the test of time? It’s a mystery that is probably left to be solved by a babyfaced Bruce Willis and a career relaunched Cybil Shephard in the romcom-meta of Moonlighting. Ahead of its time or just a relic of its era.  You will only know on The End – Moonlighting! Ok, here we go, Mr. Falcon! Full Episode

  • [THE WHEEL] Romance Draft Fight

    21/02/2023

Yeah, sure – when you think of romance movies you think of star-crossed lovers or unlikely opposites attracting or doors that can clearly fit two people bobbing in the Arctic… but do you ever think about what would happen if you pit a series of romance films against another series?  Like who would win in a fight? When Harry Met Sally or anything with Matthew McConnaughey leaning against something? What if Matthew had a knife? Alright alright alright, that’s a tangent for another day – but that doesn’t mean it isn’t what today’s episode is about. The Wheel gives us our hardest draft yet – and one of our favorite folks as judge, the Squeeequeen herself, Alexis Torres! Two romance enter – One romance leave! Full Episode

  • Our Favorite Movie Couples

    07/02/2023

♫ Love is in the air…. you can feel it everywhere ♫ It’s February, and the Somethings are not known for their rampant discussion of movies about Matthew McConaughey leaning against something, or movies where he is a rough and tumble patent clerk who has lost nothing.. except love. We aren’t the type to wax poetic about the romantic ‘You Complete Me’ and ‘Can’t Quit You’ and ‘Torgo wishes for one wife, Master’ tales of the heart. But this month.. that’s all about to change.. for this month. So join us as we discuss great movie couples and why we love ’em.  I assure you, Matthew McConaughey is not leaning anywhere within this episode. Ok, here we uwu.. Full Episode

  • January 2023 Free For All

    31/01/2023

When there are 5 weeks in a month, which makes more sense? The Somethings taking the week off because you don’t deserve 5 weeks of episodes? Or them deciding to just record anything and seeing what pops out of their mouth? Obviously, the answer is the latter – so please, enjoy this Something FreeForAll, January 2023 Edition! Full Episode

  • [THE END] The Tick

    24/01/2023

SpOOOOOOOOOOOOOOn! The Tick is one of those weird moments in comic book history, like the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles… taking what we know about superheroes and just making it weird.  So, how do they make it weirder? They make it a live action show on a low-budget and put the only man who looks like the cartoon in the role. Does it hold up? It only got half a season on Fox which could mean it was amazing and Fox screwed up or horrible and.. well, Fox screwed up.. Find out as we dive into the oceanic trench of justice on the submarine that is: The End – Tick! Ok, here we go, chum! Full Episode

  • [THE WHEEL] Job Shows

    17/01/2023

The Wheel is back, and it’s got a job to do… Ok, it doesn’t, that would be weird, it’s a Wheel. It has a job, and it does it well. We spin it, and it gives us the week’s topic.  The topic though, well that’s a different job entirely.  You see, if you have watched any television in the last twenty years, you have seen, at some point, a show about bakers or flower arrangers or glass blowers or taxis.  Doing your boring-ass day job probably has its own channel on Pluto, so what happens when the Somethings get to make their own? It’s a brand new episode of The Wheel – Elevator Pitch Ok, here we g…..are you ready to face 5 other chat format podcasts on… PodWars! Full Episode

  • [SOMETHING IN REVIEW] Bandits

    10/01/2023

This entry is brought in by Patron Doug – Thanks Doug! Three people get their lives intertwined and shenanigans ensue. Those shenanigans involve big money crimes, and pleasant interactions with bank tellers, and a love triangle that completely and totally makes a ton of sense and solidifies this as one of the cinema relationship greats. That’s right, we’re talking about the movie poster you’ve seen that one time, starring John McClain, Slingblade, and …wait, is that right?  Cate Blanchette? Yup, that Cate Blanchette. We’re talking Bandits!  Okay, here we go! And if YOU want to know how to give us stuff to talk about, all while getting your Something early, uncut and unedited… head over to our Patreon to find out how! Full Episode

  • Snopes 2023

    03/01/2023

Sometimes, the world gives us truths. Things that you can hang your hat on and believe them. Sometimes, because of the internet, you learn that those things that you felt so secure in were invented by a kid with Photoshop in 2014 and have been debunked a thousand times and now you look foolish. Don’t worry – we’ve all been there, so to start off the year we are looking at the last year of Snopes and talking about our favorite stories. What were you people sharing and/or stopping your great aunt Petunia from sharing?  Find out now! Happy 2023! Full Episode

  • [BEST OF 2022] The Wheel: Bottom CGI

    20/12/2022

December is flying by, we’re already up to our favorite episode of The Wheel – and since Hatton can’t stop loving things that are subjectively wonderfully delightfully bad… he picked Bottom 5: CGI, enjoy! What we said then: The Wheel has returned… and the narrative of the Wheel takes a new turn!  Get it? Nevermind… Anyway, there are some new topics on the Wheel, and we have been hit with one of them.  You know how Rob and Hatton are always talking about their favorite things? Well, this week they are talking about the Bottom 5, the worst, the shameful, the hysterically bad, and the ‘wait what?’ in the realm of computer generated graphics and green screen in film. So gather round and think back to all of those horrible aliens, blood splatters, and technological marvels that were clearly added in post, just like your hosts on BOTTOM 5: CGI Ok, here we go! • [BEST OF 2022] Elevator PItch: Disaster Movie

    16/12/2022

It’s time to go to the Best of the Wheel – and Rob’s pick: Disaster Movie Here’s what we said then: The Wheel is a neverending mistress, always spinning, always providing. It is the alpha, the omega, and what decides our fate. We are but pawns in its sometimes brilliant, sometimes cruel decisions. To join them on this harrowing adventure, they have called in the source of Crystal’s Imagination, Crystal Storm! • [BEST OF 2022] In Review: Texas Chainsaw Massacre

    13/12/2022

Oh, some movies are just like the Jelly of the Month Club, Clark…  gifts that keep on giving. This review was for a movie that had an amazing trailer and we hoped it would be what the first new Halloween was like… and well… … … enjoy. Here’s what we said then: There is a movement in horror to bring back the classics. We went through the remake era with the 2000’s versions of Friday and Nightmare, but Saw and, most popularly, Halloween, has show us that there are stories to tell a few decades later in the same universe. Now Netflix is getting in on the action with a late-quel? (is that a word?) of the horror classic, Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Does it have the same legs that Laurie Strode and Michael Myers had? I ask, because that’s clearly what they were asking in the scriptwriting room… So settle in to a dusty little empty street in Texas where nobody notices anything and real estate is cheap – it’s time for Something In Review: Texas Chainsaw M

  • [BEST OF 2022] Review: Black Phone

    09/12/2022

Best of 2022 continues with Rob’s Review pick – Black Phone. Here’s what we said then: We’re nearing SomethingSpookums season, so wasn’t Hatton surprised when Rob suggested one of the Summer’s sleeper horror hits Black Phone. A young man is kidnapped by the local kidnapper, natch, and through a series of mysterious moments… maybe he finds his way home? Was it good? Was it great? Was it overhyped or just right? It’s time for Something in Review: Black Phone Who ya gonna call! …wrong movie, sorry… Full Episode

    06/12/2022

Welcome to our next Best of 2022 – this week, Hatton has picked one of his favorites… Favorite Opening Scenes. Here’s the original post: The first moments of a movie or TV show sets the stage for what’s to come… is it a tense moment to moment thriller? Is it confusing, where the plot reveals itself slowly? Is it a podcast that introduces itself the same way to you each week for the last 9 years? Whatever the case may be – the first few moments of a show or movie may be the thing that keeps you glued to your seat… so join the Somethings as we discuss our favorites. Did yours make the cut? Only one way to find out. Okay, here we start! Full Episode

  • [BEST OF 2022] Franchises That Should Have Stopped…

    02/12/2022

It’s that time of year again – when the Somethings take some time off to recharge their poddery batteries, and this year, we’re taking a look back at some of our favorite episodes we’ve done over the last year, so every Friday and Tuesday in December, join us as we take a look back before we kiss this year g’bye. Enjoy ‘Franchises That Should Have Stopped At 1‘ From the original post: Some movies need to make rent so they sell themselves to whatever bidder happens to have a coupon for a McRib Value Meal. Today, the Somethings are talking about the latter of those two – movies that went one strong, maybe two strong, but somewhere down the line you can find a copy of their 4th outting stuck to the bottom of the DVD Value Pack box at RiteAid.  Or they’re loved and we’re monsters and you’ll have to tweet us to tell us why. Ok, here we go! Full Episode

  • Week 5 Free-For-All, Nov 2022

    29/11/2022

Sometimes there are 5 Tuesdays in a month, so on those glorious days, you get an extra Somethingcast! Now, the boys don’t really plan for this to happen. They don’t write the calendar, blame the Gregorians, so who the heck is going to expect them to plan something? Thus, the Free For All episode was born. This time, however, there is one particular piece of entertainment that slipped passed the Something’s security, and they want to talk about it before everyone has forgotten about it. So settle in, because we’re going to Haddonfield. Ok, here we go! Full Episode

  • [THE END] Westworld

    22/11/2022

What started as a single season of television that people will probably rank as ‘one of the best’ for a long time. Twists. Brilliant acting choices. One of the coolest scores in tv. Robots. Cowboys. Robot Cowboys…. ends where? Does it end in a satisfying place where the tethers that have been left from the first episodes are tied together in a bow and bring the whole of the arc to a satisfying conclusion? Does HBO give up on the show because the ratings have tanked? Does any of it make any sense at all? Is there any brilliance to pull from it at all? These answers and more as the Somethings take on The End: Westworld Ok, here we don’t see anything at all… Full Episode

  • [THE WHEEL] The Mystery of Oak Island

    15/11/2022

When you were a kid, did you imagine that there was buried treasure out there, and with a shovel and a dream, you would dig on the beaches and one day find it? Well, two multi-millionaires are doing just that, and apparently they’ve turned it into a multi-season reality show that Hatton’s only just hearing about. The Wheel though, the Wheel knows, and it brings the mysterious Oak Island to the forefront of the Somethings as they delve into the Mysteries of the Somethingverse yet again, with The Mystery of Oak Island Ok, here we yo ho ho!
