There is a war raging all around us, and we are soldiers in that war. There is opposition to His Kingdom advancing and our purpose being fulfilled. There are also pieces of armor that God has given us to combat our enemy. We are told to put on the whole armor of God so we can stand. Jesus promises us a life of abundance, not defeat. Torn...a word that defines so many. The world or Jesus...torn. His ways or my ways...torn. His thoughts or my thoughts...torn. His mission or my mission...torn. Being pulled in different directions occurs when we are not "All In". There are many things that pull us certain directions in life. The world, our families, our friends, ourselves...we are torn. When we make decisions that go against God and His ways we tear our witness apart. We dilute the reality of the gospel and God's saving power. Life does not have to be lived this way! The moment the veil was torn, a relationship with God was possible. He was and is accessible because of the shedding of His blood. The moment the veil was torn...we no longer had to be. The resurrection that awaited Christ awaits us! We just have to choose to live it. The resurrected Savior allows us to live a life that is not torn between Him and something or someone else.
