Grindbin Podcast - Grindhouse And Exploitation Films

The boys are back to discuss a movie about rub downs and rub outs. When Katie inherits a business from her deceased uncle she had no idea she would be running a brothel. Her attempts to turn the business legitimate run afoul of the local mafia and she finds herself in a real sticky situation. A fun and very obscure exploitation film from the 1970's, the Manhandlers is a dig way down deep into the bin of grindhouse cinema. 

Hughes, Mann and Mike are joined by Bobby - the newest member of the Grindbin family - to discuss one of our favorite bin movies to date; 1982's Raw Force. The guys from the Burbank Karate club go on a vacation to explore an island for disgraced martial artists expecting some fun in the sun. What they get is a literal prostitute buffet and an island of the damned!

Chris, Hughes and Mike discuss another auteur "masterpiece" in the Grindbin. Duke Mitchell writes, directs, and stars in his own version of the Godfather - complete with a bad Italian accents, crucified pimps, and even a wedding! So break bread and join the boys for a little bit of Sicilian fun in the bin.

Mike is joined by Hughes to discuss one of the most deplorable movies from the vault of Crown International Pictures - 1970's Weekend With the Babysitter. A movie only "Mr. Crown" himself could love; an old pervert falls for his kid's babysitter while his wife is punished for her heroin addiction.  

Here come the boys! Chris and Mike are joined by Hughes to finally record an episode with both Chris's in the room at the same time; and we couldn't have picked a worse movie to talk about. A staple of comedy central in the late 90's, Stewardess School is the type of movie you've seen a 1,000 times yet never remember seeing.

Mike is joined by guest co-host Michael Tanner (co-author of Junior Braves of the Apocalypse) to discuss a movie from Grindbin All-Star Lee Frost (Policewomen). When a racist white surgeon is given two weeks to live, he decides to take desperate measures and perform the world's first head transplant. Only problem, the donor is not to the doctor's liking! 

We've finally found it, the worst movie in Grindbin history. Three Oscar winners, a million dollar prop, and a lifetime of regret. Tentacles is not only the worst movie we've ever seen, it might be the worst movie ever made. Yes, it's really that bad. Strap in and get ready for the ride of your life as Chris and Mike go through every imaginable emotion trying to describe the undescribeable. 

Chris and Mike discuss a true Grindhouse classic - 1974's Gator Bait. Claudia Jennings stars in a story of revenge set in the Louisiana Swamps. The story behind this movie is almost better than the film itself.

Chris and Mike discuss a movie that a lot of the starring actors hoped would be forgotten. Johnny Depp, Rob Morrow, and Hector Elizondo find themselves on an island vacation where all sorts of hijinks ensue. Chris and Mike dive into a listener request, 1990: The Bronx Warriors - one of many Italian post-apocalyptic grindhouse action films made in the 1980's as a response to movies like The Road Warrior and Escape From New York. What sets Bronx Warriors apart from the rest is it's bizarre fascination of mixing a post-apocalyptic setting with a West-Side-Story-esque gangs; complete with painted faces, matching outfits, and choreographed dance routines. This film is also the last one filmed before Vic Morrow's unfortunate demise.

Chris and Mike present their first episode of the mini bin. Chris and Mike roll into a real conundrum of a movie, The Amazing Mr. No Legs. Marketed as a movie about a man in a wheelchair who's a black belt in karate but it's actually just 90 minutes of two guys wandering around trying to solve crimes... sort of.

Chris and Mike are joined by Randal from the Grawlix podcast to re-discuss the first movie ever covered on this podcast (and referenced in every episode since) 1977's The Van. When a ginger boy graduates from high school and buys that Van he's always wanted he wreaks terror on the unsuspecting women of Los Angeles and commits every sex crime possible. This movie is meant to be a comedy. Also, Danny Devito is in it for 7 minutes.

Welcome to the first part of the one year Vanniversary for the Grindbin podcast! On this episode Chris and Mike discuss the unofficial sequel to the first movie they ever covered on this podcast, 1977's The Van. Hastily produced after the "success" of The Van, Malibu Beach is an interesting effort from Crown International Pictures.

Chris and Mike dive into the dark sub-genre of killer kid movies from the 1990's with Mikey (1992). While horror films were experiencing a lack of creativity and major franchises fell under the weight of bad sequels and dwindling interest, Mikey arose as one of the most depraved and horrific offerings the early 1990's had to offer. This kid has more balls than Schwarzenegger, more one-liners than Stallone, and a colder heart than Bronson. 

Chris and Mike cover a movie that was literally mailed to them by a listener named Shawn. A mysterious DVD box that fell out of a van somewhere with the wrong title for the movie "The Legend of Bruce Lee" and a stolen poster from another film that was simply photoshopped over. After some significant research Mike and Chris were able to locate the real name of the film and begin to dissect one of the oddest things to ever be pressed into a DVD. Billed as semi-biographical story of Bruce Lee and starring a man named Bruce Le, the film is a complete mess: containing cobra slapping, horrible dubbed audio, Australian accents for Chinese citizens, and crucial plot points that simply happen off-screen. Chris and Mike are joined by Randal Silvey from the Grawlix podcast to talk about 1986's TerrorVision. When a suburban family buys a new satellite dish it starts receiving transmissions from an alien world. Featuring Grindbin All Stars Diane Franklin and John Gries, TerrorVision is a unique and weird movie that shaped the minds of generations of adults as they saw it played over and over again on extended cable. 

Crown International returns to the Grindbin in spectacular fashion. Jocks (1986) is a late entry in the cannon of Crown films but it's just as bad and memorable as their earlier entries. Featuring Christopher Lee, Richard Roundtree and a young Mariska Hargitay. 

Chris and Mike return for their first show of 2017 with another listener request: "Jekyll and Hyde... Together Again" (1982). In this 80s adaptation of the classic Robert Louis Stevenson tale a surgeon quits his job to develop a new drug to help man tap into his primordial instincts for some reason. He ends up inventing cocaine and we watch a man snort lines, act like an idiot and hump the air for the next hour; the end.
