Nerdy Show Interview: Marc With A C Gets Shock Treatment
25/07/2017 Duración: 56minBefore there was "reality TV" there was Shock Treatment - a side-step sequel to The Rocky Horror Picture Show that confounded fans and slipped in under moviegoers' radars in 1981. No sweet transvestites here, just Brad and Janet trapped in a televised torture chamber that looks eerily like America in the 21st century. The film faded into obscurity, where it would've languished were it not for some die-hard fans, among them the lo-fi musician and familiar voice here on The Nerdy Show Network, Marc With A C. In this episode, Marc and Cap share everything you need to know about this hidden gem of b-movie musicals: the actor strike that led to massive changes in the plot, the fandom that re-discovered it, and the weird story of how Marc's just for fun covers of the songs turned into a beloved piece of the Shock Treatment legacy (now being pressed on vinyl to coincide with the Blu-ray release). We also have a Rocky Horror bombshell to drop as Marc's journey to license these songs shed some light on the long-rumore

Join Cap, boR, Tony, and Brandon as we explore not only our summertime film habits, but the amazing TV we've seen too including the new Warren Ellis-penned Castlevania on Netflix, cartoons we've caught up on, and other treats from the small screen. Nerdy Show Interview: 40 Years of Cerebus the Aardvark with Gerhard
11/07/2017 Duración: 56minCap celebrates 40 years of a comic book milestone: Cerebus the Aardvark. It's an independent comic that took the world by storm, changed the industry forever, and broke bold new ground with its hilarious and heart-rending story. Nerdy Show Microsode: Console Clunkers & Spoofing Star Wars with Palette-Swap Ninja
31/05/2017 Duración: 01h12minCap and Brandon are joined by Palette-Swap Ninja, an obscure nerd band that recently made a big splash when they combined two pillars of 20th century pop culture into one unbelievable concept album. Dan Amrich is a game journalist turned Ubisoft community developer and Jude Kelley is a research scientist who repairs old arcade machines. With our collective powers combined, we're unleashing a nerd podcast of an unrepellable magnitude. First up, we take on the listener-requested topic: failed video game consoles. We've all seen our fair share of pie-in-the-sky, crazy flops in the ever-ongoing console wars, but Dan's career in game journalism grants him a special perspective. In the mid-90s at outlets like Flux and GamePro he was witnessing some of the legendary travesties - including the notorious Virtual Boy. We dissect and debate just what makes a "failed" game console and get stories from Dan and Jude's deep game nerd backgrounds, then we dive into the incredible project they've spent the last 5+ years worki

Nerdy Show Microsode: European RPG Video Games
17/05/2017 Duración: 25minWhen The Nerdy Show Network’s flagship podcast isn’t unloading on the latest geek news and happenings, we’re diving deep into super-specific discussions and interviews. Where you're from greatly influences who you are - especially so when it comes to creative output. So it should be no surprise that for indie game studios out of Eastern Europe, the stories they tell and the games they make are distinctly different from the usual faire: games like Metro 2033, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Gothic, and others. Cap, Trench, Arkais, Luke, and Tony explore their favorite titles in the often overlooked, sometimes obscure, and always fascinating world of European RPG video games. We look for what makes these games decidedly different (outside of a lack of major corporate funding), discuss the books that inspired them, share our personal highs and lows, and, of course, spend plenty of time talking about the best known title of them all, The Witcher. Join Cap, boR, Doug, and Brandon as we sample forbidden and peculiar nectars. Yes, we uncork all the unusual varieties of Mountain Dew that have hit shelves recently and perform sinister experiments. We also take on a listener-requested prompt and share our dream video games. As in: the games we would personally make, were the resources available to us. The results are as baffling and sinister as the myriad flavors of Dew... Nerdy Show Interview: Aquapocalypse Now - Jeffrey Morris Unveils Oceanus
01/05/2017 Duración: 51minWe've had an influx of cool, thought-provoking sci-fi films lately, but few of them have had much integrity when it comes to the "science" in "science fiction". Fortunately, we know a guy who's on a quest to change all that. Meet Jeffrey Morris, head of FutureDude Entertainment, and the writer/ director of the upcoming film, Oceanus. With Oceanus, Morris is creating a near-future world of deep sea exploration, moon bases, and asteroid mining; advised by such science luminaries as Neil DeGrasse-Tyson... and then he's setting that world on fire - literally. With the surface of the world consumed by catastrophe, the only remaining bastion of human civilization on Earth is the sea base, Oceanus. The film will explore that gleaming science city beneath the waves as the apocalypse sends it into disarray; and then the advantageous director is launching a 10-part TV miniseries to continue the story. Along for the ride is legendary Star Trek writer D.C. Fontana and Fringe and The Wire's Lance Reddick. Cap and Jess hav
