Invisible Disabilities Association
13/01/2020 Duración: 26minThe Invisible Disabilities Association (IDA) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit. IDA is about believing. We believe you! The frequently invisible nature of illness and pain may lead to disbelief about that illness or pain by those surrounding the person who lives daily with invisible disabilities. This disbelief can lead to misunderstandings, rejection by friends, family and heath care providers. It may also lead to accusations of laziness or faking an illness. We are passionate about providing awareness that invisible illness, pain and disabilities are very real! Our mission is to encourage, educate and connect people and organizations touched by illness, pain and disability around the globe. Envision with us, a world where people living with illness, pain and disability will be Invisible No More. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

MAXWELL’S STORY from his Mom, Amber
28/10/2019 Duración: 24minI have two year-old twins named Maxwell & Riley. Like any parent, they are my world. About a year ago, Maxwell, was diagnosed with a rare neurological disease called SLC6A1. The disease is too rare to even have a formal name and is known only by the genetic location. We were told nothing could be done and I chose not to accept that answer. I called 200 scientists over the course of a month and found the disease can be cured via gene replacement therapy. A world renowned scientist and I are working away to create this live saving therapy and we are hoping to advance a clinical trial next year that will cure every child with this disease. I have raised $1,000,000 in 10 months to advance this therapy. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
