On episode 21 of Film Focus, I look back my favourite films of 2016 and not only cover my top 10 but also briefly cover the films that were also really great but didn't quite make the list. 17/12/2016 Duración: 44min

On episode 20 of Film Focus I talk about the long-awaited spin-off/prequel film; Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. This long-awaited film has been one of the most talked about films of 2016 from its placement in the Star Wars film timeline to the endless discussions revolving the reshoots, there was a lot riding on this film as the first experimental deviation from the regular Star Wars formula. So how does the film hold up? Well, check out the review to find out. Oh and just so you know there will be spoilers at the end of the episode if you wish to avoid them stop listening at 29:10... But if you want some filthy spoilers it starts from 29:11 onwards. Enjoy! P.S. Just some minor notes: 1) I am fairly loud in this episode was be prepared especially around 30:48 onwards. 2) My memory isn't always the best when it comes to Star Wars so if there are factual errors I apologise in advance. 3) At one point I referred to Alexandre Desplat as Andre Desplat, I just got the name wrong. :P Theme music is "Pulse Rock" b

  • Episode 18 - Favourite Music in Film

    23/09/2016 Duración: 33min

On episode 18 of Film Focus, I decided to focus on the use of music in film and discuss some of my favourite uses in certain films I've seen over the years. Since there are a lot of films to choose from I selected a few from different periods which had a lot of fun, interesting and emotional significance. Now there's a lot more choices I didn't get to include especially with the Quentin Tarantino films too, however, I decided to keep things to a reasonable length and I may come back to this topic in a future episode. • Episode 17 - Blair Witch Review

    18/09/2016 Duración: 18min

On episode 17 of Film Focus, I talk about the unexpected sequel of 2016, Blair Witch. Now I had no intention of watching this film considering that it is a horror film and I am the biggest coward ever, however, since I'd seen the majority of films at my local cinema I decided to throw caution to the wind and give this film a go. So how did the film turn out? Well, have a listen and hear for yourselves! :D Theme music is "Pulse Rock" by Kevin MacLeod which can be found at https://incompetech.com/ Follow me on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/hypersonic55 Follow Film Focus on Twitter: https://twitter.com/FilmFocus55

On episode 16 of Film Focus, I talk about Sausage Party. Now, this is a film I've heard a lot about prior to and after it's release and while the initial trailers didn't wow me, as a man of animation I was curious.

  • Episode 15 - Is It Too Late For A Black Widow Film?

    26/08/2016 Duración: 33min

On episode 15 of Film Focus, I discuss the much-talked-about potential Black Widow solo film. Even though she has yet to get a film of her own, the Black Widow character from the Marvel Studios series of films has resonated with a lot of people and has made some question why the character hasn't gotten a film of her own especially after her great responses in The Avengers and Captain America: The Winer Soldier. So I thought it'd be interesting to dive into this topic and give my thoughts on the character, where the hype came from why she should get her own solo outing. • Episode 14 - The 2016 Summer Movie Season - Has It Been A Disappointment?

    19/08/2016 Duración: 33min

On episode 14 of Film Focus, I talk about the films released during the summer season and determine whether this year's batch of films, on the whole, were good or not. Even though the summer's not yet over, I've seen a lot of people online talk about how 2016's summer films are horrible when compared to previous years, and while I've enjoyed a good few films this year but not so many in the summer, so I thought that a topic surrounding the disappointing nature of 2016's summer movies be worth talking about. Now bear in mind, these views are just from my perspective, so if there's something you don't agree with feel free to discuss it with me further, but in a civilised manner, thank you. P.S. Sorry about the disappearing act, hopefully, I'll be back on schedule soon. Thank you for your patience. 29/07/2016 Duración: 18min

On episode 12 of Film Focus I finally, FINALLY get around to reviewing the fourth film in the Bourne series (because no one counts Bourne Legacy); Jason Bourne. It's been almost 10 years since The Bourne Ultimatum and the landscape of films and the world has changed a lot, and you have to wonder if the Bourne franchise can still be relevant, but with the combination of Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon, you have to have hope right? So how was the film? Well listen on and found out in this spoiler-free review! 22/07/2016 Duración: 22min

On episode 11 of Film Focus I finally get around to reviewing the third film in the new set of Star Trek films; Star Trek Beyond. Now, this is the first film in this rebooted franchise to feature Justin Lin in the director's seat and to have Simon Pegg in the writing position too, and while the trailers have been serviceable, the early buzz for the film from critics gave me hope. So how was the film? Well listen on and found out in this spoiler-free review! P.S. There were some audio issues that I couldn't work around, for some reason Audacity is starting to give me problems, may have to switch audio editing software. Sorry for the inconvenience. • Episode 10 - The Legend Of Tarzan Review

    13/07/2016 Duración: 21min

On episode 10 of Film Focus, I review The Legend of Tarzan! I can't say I've been the biggest fan of the Tarzan franchise, however, with the talent involved from director David Yates to the cast including Alexander Skarsgard, Christoph Waltz, Margot Robbie and Samuel L. Jackson I was definitely curious to see how the film would turn out. So how does this film fare? Well check out this spoiler-free review and find out. • Episode 9 - Hopes & Fears For The Sonic Live Action Movie

    08/07/2016 Duración: 28min

On episode 9 of Film Focus, I discuss my hopes and fears for the upcoming 2018 Sonic the Hedgehog film. Even though the major announcement of Sonic's jump to the big screen was made back in 2014, there hasn't been any major talk about it since, and since the very concept of it being a live-action/CGI hybrid just troubles me to the core, I thought it'd be an interesting topic to bring up for the podcast. P.S. During the portion of the episode I made a verbal mistake about Sonic Underground saying that Sonic had brothers, instead of saying siblings as I am aware he has a brother and sister haha. • Episode 6 - TMNT Out Of The Shadows Review

    15/06/2016 Duración: 18min

On episode 6 of Film Focus, I review Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. So I enjoyed the 2014 Ninja Turtles film but there was definitely room for improvement, so when the marketing for Out of the Shadows started coming out I was so hyped. With the return of some of fan favourite characters and a tone similar to the old 1980's cartoon, how could it go wrong? So how does this film fare? Well check out this spoiler-free review and find out. 08/06/2016 Duración: 16min

    11/05/2016 Duración: 33min

On the second episode of Film Focus, I return to Captain America: Civil War with a spoiler-based discussion! Since the film's finally been released in America and most people who have wanted to see it have done so already I decided to talk a little more about the latest Marvel film. And while I cover a good few topics, the ones I get into specific detail about include: 1) The Badassery of Black Panther 2) The awesomeness of Spider-Man 3) The Drama and Revalations of the Civil War 4) The Airport Sequence 5) Why I liked Baron Zemo There's also some audio hiccups that I couldn't sort out during the editing process so apologises in advance.
