On episode 40 of Film Focus, I talk about one of the most anticipated sequels of not only the year but also in recent film history, Blade Runner 2049. So the first Blade Runner is hailed as one of the best and most influential films of all time, so with talk of a sequel most fans were hesitant that the original film would be ruined. But after Denis Villeneuve was attached as director, a lot of film fans felt there was hope for a solid film. So is the sequel a good time or not? On episode 39 of Film Focus, I talk about another one of my most anticipated films of the year in the form of Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Now Kingsman: The Secret Service was not only one of the best surprises of 2015 but was also one of my favourite films of that year, so when I heard there'd be a sequel, I was hesitant but hopeful since Matthew Vaughn was coming back to direct. On episode 38 of Film Focus, I talk about the talked about films of the year, It. With this being the second adaptation of the Stephen King book there was some apprehension about it because 1) A good few people loved the first film from the 90's with Tim Curry and didn't want another version. And 2)The initial images of Pennywise/It didn't really gel with people. However, after the trailers came out it really started to win people over, me included. And yes you read that correctly, I said "we", as today marks the first time I have a guest on the podcast as I'm joined by Drew from Drew's Movie Reviews to discuss our thoughts on most of the films released over the course of the summer. On episode 35 of Film Focus, I talk about the latest film in the Planet of the Apes reboot series; War for the Planet of the Apes. Now of all the films I was looking forward to this year including Logan, Guardians 2, Spider-Man and the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok and Star Wars Episode VIII, War for the Planet of the Apes was easily in the top 3. Back in 2011 Rise really blew me away with its interesting story, characters, and action, and then Dawn came out 2014 and completely floored me with the character-driven story, drama, and visual effects. And since the first trailer dropped last year I've been beyond hyped to see if this film would deliver the epic third chapter that this trilogy needed. On episode 34 of Film Focus I talk about the latest film from Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures in the form of Spider-Man: Homecoming. After Spider-Man he was introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: Civil War last year I knew I was ready for his solo film straight away. So with a decent marketing campaign and a lot of hopeful interviews with the cast and crew about how this latest version of Spider-Man would turn out, is it a successful reboot or another disappointing session? Now there's been a lot of hype and concern that's been projected onto this film from the day it was announced, and it has also faced an uphill battle with sceptics who were either unimpressed with the previous films in the DCEU or wasn't keen on Gal Gadot as the title character. On episode 31 of Film Focus, I talk about the long-awaited sequel and latest film from Marvel Studios, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2! On episode 22 of Film Focus, I talk about Assassin's Creed; the most recent video game adaptation based on the popular game series. So it is 2017, and how does one start their new film experience in the cinema? By watching a terrible film, that's how!
