On Wednesday opponents of a proposed police facility in Atlanta known officially as the Public Safety Training Center.. but popularly as Cop City.. began a campaign to get roughly 75,000 signatures on a petition to force a referendum on the facility.. Mayor Eric Adams’ plan to switch all public sector retirees to privatized health care was dealt a blow last week… Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Lyle Frank who issued a temporary restraining order preventing the city from moving the city’s 250,000 retirees to a Medicare Advantage plan managed by Aetna insurance. An attorney for the retirees is Jake Gardener of the firm Walden, Macht & Haran…

Dr. Mutulu Shakur who spent 36 years in federal prison for his alleged role in a politically inspired armed robbery of a Brinks truck died today. Shakur was released on parole last year after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.
