The Enemy uses our legitimate needs and our wants and cravings to set us up to trick us. Like the hungry little fish, our appetites for anything including food, can be used as the devil's bait to catch us on his hooks of destruction. Are we fully convinced, like Abraham, in the promises God has made to us? Are we fully convinced we are in a real spiritual war? Satan is waging a war for your faith. Is all of this conflict purposeful? Or is what we are experience merely the outcome of a primordial accident? Is all this well-ordered chaos so brilliantly orchestrated by the Wicked One to turn humankind against each other random or designed? Is there an Enemy who moves in and through the midst of us that conceals himself in the midst of us for the express purpose of destroying us and life as we know it? The answer is yes! How else can we explain the madness of the murder and destruction we see ramping up all around us? Satan has temporary jurisdiction of this earth, but we are here appointed by God and authorized by him to act through the Holy Spirit to declare His Kingdom come! Jesus tells us that we shall know “them” whoever “they” are by their fruits. (Mt. 7:20) We must begin to discern the truth from the appearance of truth set up in the midst of us to deceive, if possible, even the very elect. The question of utmost importance is what must I do to be confident that the return of Jesus Christ will be the best day of my life. The Bible makes it very clear the priorities are to love and forgive our neighbor. There will be no exemptions or exceptions for certain people. The rules are the same for all. David prayed. David the anointed servant of God was in danger of being hunted down and killed by the most powerful man in the land, king Saul. The cry of David’s heart to feel overwhelmed and the fear of being found by his enemies were no different than those we face. His life was continually in danger. The snared set by those who sought to catch and kill him were real.     And yet, every day, morning by morning, he rose up to encouraged himself in the Lord. He knew God’s faithfulness and kept his confidence in God’s favor. In these days of treachery and injustice, let us be like David. Let us rise in the morning to speak with God and hear His words. The key to our peace and victory is not in being able to figure out what is going on but to know that the God who loves us is our defender and our righteousness.
