Challenges to Sports Broadcasting Rights in India
04/09/2024 Duración: 31minThe Sports Broadcasting Signals (Mandatory Sharing with Prasar Bharati Act) Act requires private broadcasters in India to share live feeds of sports deemed to be of ‘national importance’ with the public broadcaster, allowing it to retransmit these free-to-air. In this episode, Carl is joined by Srishti Joshi, Senior Associate at the Koan Advisory Group where they discuss the intricacies of India’s sports broadcasting landscape. Should sports content be free-to-air? Should mandatory sharing exist in today’s sports broadcasting ecosystem with the ubiquity of various mediums? Is there a balance to be maintained between private broadcasters’ rights and public interest? They explore these questions and possible solutions in this episode. The host of this podcast is indebted to Nandan Kamath for breaking these questions down in his masterful work ‘Boundary Lab: Inside the Global Experiment called Sport’. Language in Education: Multilingualism in Indian Classrooms
16/08/2024 Duración: 37minWith 22 scheduled languages and 19,500 languages and/or dialects in India, multilingualism is a reality in all aspects of life. India's classrooms are not an exception; teachers navigate through a number of languages while teaching. The United Nations estimates that nearly 40% of the global population does not have access to education in a language they understand or speak (UNESCO, 2016). This has implications on how much and how well students can learn.
