Jesus reveals to us the mercy of God. The mercy of God reminds us that we are always more then our actions, whether they be good or bad, but that ultimately we are known and loved by the Father unconditionally.

The Magi, by allowing themselves to be led beyond what they knew, encountered the wisdom of God. This wisdom was unlike the stars and dreams they had studied. Rather, they discovered what they were looking for in those things in the child Jesus, who as St. Paul says, is the wisdom of God.
