EFL Playoff Semi Final: Sheffield United 1-2 Nottingham Forest
15/05/2022 Duración: 37minA scintillating Forest performance saw the Reds carry a slender advantage into Tuesday's home leg. In truth, the away team should have put the match to bed in the first half, with a number of good chances bringing near misses and decent saves from Wes Foderingham (especially the double save from Surridge and Johnson). However, Forest will be delighted, having taken an early lead from Jack Colback and then doubled the advantage with Brennan Johnson's cool finish after good work from Joe Lolley. Sander Berge scored a soft late goal from a corner to give the Blades hope for the second leg (and give Paul Heckingbottom the chance to engage in some amateur mind games), but if Forest can reproduce their attacking display from today, they will be confident about the prospects of making the final. Tom Newton was at the game, and reports back in conversation with Steven Toplis. Nottingham Forest vs Sheffield United: the play-offs revisited
13/05/2022 Duración: 20minIf you're of a nervous disposition, you might want to give this one a miss! A couple of years ago, during the nationwide lockdown, Rich Ferraro, Steven Toplis and the Maradona of the Midlands reviewed Forest's previous play-off campaigns, including the classic but heartbreaking encounters with Sheffield United in 2003. We'll be back with our match reports from both of this year's semi-finals against the Blades, and will be hoping for better fortune this time. "No more 2003": The 1865 Nottingham Forest Podcast, March 2022
11/05/2022 Duración: 01h22sSheffield United in a two-legged Championship play-off semi-final? Nothing can go wrong there, can it? In our 70th podcast of the season (phew), we review the season just gone, thinking about the Steve Cooper Revolution, and how his tactics and management have made such a huge difference to our team's fortunes; we hear from a Blades fan and discuss how we definitely don't have PTSD from 19 years ago; and on a more positive note we choose our goals of the season, and players of the season. Even amongst all of that, there is time for a discussion about VAR and whether it would have made a positive difference to Forest's season, as well as hearing from Jeremy Davies with his final sketch this term. We also have time for some news from Fanhub and our final giveaway of the season: we will give out some Forest mugs, courtesy of our friends at The Terrace - just post a lovely review of our podcast on your app of choice, and send us a screenshot to forestramble@gmail.com by 6pm on Friday 20th May, and we will select

Hull City 1-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report
08/05/2022 Duración: 30minAfter a sterling run of results throughout April, some Reds fans would say that this has been a disappointing week to end the season, but in the space of 39 games Steve Cooper has turned the Reds around from relegation certainties to a place in the play-offs, where they will face Sheffield United. Rich Ferraro and Tom Newton discuss the performance of a much-changed Forest team, as the gaffer took the chance to rest many of his first choice XI (and he said that most of them were carrying injuries). As a result, the performance had an end-of-season, slightly disjointed feel, but the away side will still feel like they should have won the game as they took the lead through Brennan Johnson's stoppage time penalty, before Lewie Coyle (or was it Keane Lewis-Potter?) equalised for Hull just a minute later to consign the Reds to fourth position and a trip to Bramall Lane. We also hear the views of YouTuber Old Grandpa Joe, providing a Hull City perspective. Subscribe to 1865 via your podcast provider, and please lea

AFC Bournemouth 1-0 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report
04/05/2022 Duración: 26minThe automatic promotion dream came to an end as Bournemouth's second half performance saw them take the points with a late goal from Kieffer Moore, who always scores against Forest. The Reds had some cause to be aggrieved after the linesman's flag wrongly denied them a certain penalty, and Steve Cooper was not impressed when the officials apologised to him afterwards. Steven Toplis and Baz review the match and the Reds' performance. In truth, the best team won on the night and you cannot argue that Bournemouth don't deserve it over 46 games - congratulations to them. We also send our very best wishes to Steve Cook and his family, after the awful news of Cookie Sr's cardiac arrest just before the game. Get well soon. Nottingham Forest 5-1 Swansea City: The 1865 Match Report
01/05/2022 Duración: 43minA thumping victory from the Reds, but it could and should have been more. On a day when Bournemouth remained in pole position, Forest ensured that they were keeping the pressure on for the final automatic promotion place. Sam Surridge's hat-trick was the highlight, with Cyrus Christie's farcical own goal and Alex Mighten's scrambled effort ensuring that the Reds kept a healthy goal difference, as this could still be crucial. In this extended podcast, Rich Ferraro and Baz discuss a first half that was frankly insane, a second period in which Forest stamped their authority on the game, and the atmosphere before, during and after the match. We also discuss how the Reds will be feeling, and whether Bournemouth are rattled, before Tuesday night's head-to=head encounter, in what is surely the Reds' biggest game in years. Fulham 0-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report
27/04/2022 Duración: 33minAn outstanding night for Forest as they battled and fought their way to a clean sheet and an excellent three points away to champions-elect Fulham. Philip Zinckernagel's scrambled goal (with an assist from the gaffer) was enough to secure the points, but that only tells half the story. Steven Toplis and Tom Newton discuss a famous night for Forest, with a home fans' view from Matt from the Fulham Focus podcast. The Reds are now within three points of second-placed Bournemouth, and level on goal difference; one game at a time ... one game at a time... Peterborough United 0-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report
24/04/2022 Duración: 17minA narrow win for Forest drew them one step closer to the play-offs but relegated plucky Peterborough United. Sam Surridge's goal just before half-time came after excellent work on the counter-attack from Philip Zinckernagel and Brennan Johnson, and despite the home team's continued efforts, Forest had enough to see the game out. The Maradona of the Midlands and Steven Toplis report on a victory that was very different from last week's thumping win over West Bromwich Albion. Nottingham Forest 4-0 West Bromwich Albion: The 1865 Match Report
19/04/2022 Duración: 37minA thumping victory for Steve Cooper's Reds, as they bounced back from Good Friday defeat against Luton Town. Forest completely controlled most of the match, and goals from Johnson, Yates, Colback and Surridge grabbed the points. Jack Colback's effort has gone viral as a goal of the season contender, but did he really mean it? The visitors were bad-tempered, and although Steve Bruce grumbled about the incorrect award of a throw-in, it is difficult to overstate how poor his tactical setup was, even before Darnell Furlong's early red card for two bookings. The second half was not exciting to watch, but again, the Reds were in control as the Baggies barely got into the Forest half. Rich Ferraro and Steven Toplis review the match, with a view from the away end from Louis of the Baggies Podcast. Luton Town 1-0 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report
15/04/2022 Duración: 32minThe referee and his team took centre stage at Kenilworth Road, as a controversial penalty and some baffling decisions left Steve Cooper furious. Forest had decent chances but Grabban and Zinckernagel will both feel that they should have done better, while Djed Spence's goal was wrongly ruled out for offside (yes, the rules are odd, but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't be enforced). Luton suffered themselves, as Sonny Bradley received a second yellow card when Sam Surridge should have been called offside. Rich Ferraro is joined by Luton supporter Ryan McCole to get a view from the opposition, and Tom Newton also joins the discussion, fresh from the away end at Kenilworth Road. Nottingham Forest 2-0 Birmingham City: The 1865 Match Report
10/04/2022 Duración: 32minSteve Cooper's Mighty Reds ascended to third in the league, albeit in a match overshadowed by a serious-looking injury to visiting keeper Neil Etheridge. Forest took an early lead with Keinan Davis' blasted finish, although that only told part of the story as the build up evoked memories of the Chuckle Brothers and the Isley Brothers. After Etheridge was stretchered off midway through the second period, the mighty Scott McKenna sealed the points with a header from Jimmy Garner's corner. Rich Ferraro and Baz review the match, with a view from the away end from Tom of the Blues Focus Podcast. Rich and Baz then dare to dream - with five consecutive victories, favourable results elsewhere, and second-placed Bournemouth having a tricky run-in, can the Reds really challenge for automatic promotion? Nottingham Forest 2-0 Coventry City: The 1865 Match Report
07/04/2022 Duración: 31minAnother hard-fought victory from the Reds, perhaps lacking in style and panache but making up for that with grit and determination, against a decent Coventry team and a baffling referee. After the match, Steve Cooper claimed that he wasn't aware that this win put Forest in the play-off places! However, he did comment on the need to keep up the momentum, not only in results but also playing style and game plan. Steven Toplis and Baz review the match, with a view from the away end from Glenn of Sky Blue Fans TV. Blackpool 1-4 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report
03/04/2022 Duración: 33minA real statement victory from the Reds, as they were ruthless in the first half against a Blackpool team who will have had their own play-off ambitions. An early deflected effort by Philip Zinckernagel was added to by two brilliantly taken goals from man-of-the-moment Brennan Johnson. We also have kind words to say about the whole team, but there is a special mention for Scott McKenna, who is still supposed to be injured! Rich Ferraro is joined by Adam, who had just returned from his day out at the seaside, as we discuss all the action, the post-match reactions from the two managers, and we are pleased to offer praise to the referee! "Five Year Plan": The 1865 Nottingham Forest Podcast, March 2022
28/03/2022 Duración: 01h02minAs we get to the business end of the season, Rich Ferraro is joined by Steven Toplis, Tom Newton and Baz to reflect on Forest's current prospects. In the wake of good league form and after an unfortunate cup exit, do Steve Cooper's squad have enough physical and mental resources to gain a top six finish (or better)? Also this month, we talk about the wonderful atmosphere at the City Ground, with guest contributor Stuart Levy, and talk about a few off-the-pitch issues, such as the Fans' Q&A sessions and a new appointment to the club's board of directors. All this, and we have a game of Guess That Red, Jeremy Davies' 1865 Sketch, and another competition courtesy of our sponsors The Terrace: listen to the podcast and email your answer to forestramble@gmail.com by 6pm on Friday 1st April. Nottingham Forest 0-1 Liverpool: The 1865 Match Report
21/03/2022 Duración: 42minGutted but proud, Steve Cooper's Reds gave Liverpool a run for their money and could have snatched a result. In the tightest quarter-final of the weekend, Forest had enough chances to win this but were thwarted by a well-taken goal by Diogo Jota, just after Philip Zinckernagel should have put the Reds in the lead. Jota probably was onside, and the challenge by Allison on Ryan Yates probably wasn't a penalty, but it didn't stop the accusations about LiVARpool; as Cooper said, it would have been interesting to see what decisions would have been made at the other end of the pitch. Rich Ferraro is joined by the Maradona of the Midlands and Liverpool fan Johnny Shah to review the match itself, with special mentions for Yates and man of the match Joe Worrall; we also comment on the cost and value of Liverpool's team, especially after the quadruple substitution, and there are a few words about Jurgen Klopp. We also ask Tom Newton and Baz to join us to reflect on the match - could we really have won it, and what doe

1865 Podcast Extra: Forest vs Liverpool preview
18/03/2022 Duración: 19minYou might have noticed that there is a match on Sunday! Although the league is surely Forest's priority, most Reds fans are looking forward to pitting their wits against one of the best teams in the country. Recorded just after Forest's victory against QPR, Rich Ferraro and Tom Newton look forward to the game, discussing the importance of momentum, possible team selection and comparing Klopp and Cooper in terms of playing and coaching style. We are also delighted to be joined by Neil from Liverpool podcast The Anfield Wrap to get a view from the opposition; can we expect Klopp to pick a strong team, and how much will home advantage play to Forest's advantage? Nottingham Forest 3-1 Queens Park Rangers: The 1865 Match Report
17/03/2022 Duración: 38minA blistering comeback from Forest was kickstarted by a thunderbastard from Djed Spence, as Forest eventually stteamrollered a stubborn and niggly QPR side. In a match that was another great advert for the Championship, despite a torrential downpour and a soggy pitch, Forest showed their ability throughout, but it was the visitors who took the lead against the run of play when Andre Gray ran between the lines, converting Ilias Chair's excellent throughball from a tight angle. For all that Forest were trying to overcome the shirt pulling and constant niggles, it needed something special to get the Reds back in the match, as Djedmond Spence conjured up a swerving shot into the top corner. After that, it still could have swung either way, but the forces of footballing good prevailed as Ryan Yates' deflected effort from a corner hit home, and then Brennan Johnson sealed the victory after sub Cafu's effort was well-saved following a counter-attack by subs Joe Lolley and Sam Surridge. Match report by Steven Toplis a

Nottingham Forest 4-0 Reading: The 1865 Match Report
13/03/2022 Duración: 27minTwo goals from Keinan Davis set Forest on their way to an emphatic victory against relegation-threatened Reading. The Reds couldn't have made a better start, with Joe Worrall's throughball, Djed Spence's cross and Davis' turn and finish putting the home team in the lead after just 17 seconds! However, the rest of the first half was flat at best, with Ethan Horvath having to make a crucial save and Forest players struggling to play on the front foot. Max Lowe's enforced substitution enabled a tactical tweak, with sub Cafu playing in the hole, enabling Jimmy Garner to drop back into central midfield, and The Reds reaped the benefits in the second half. All the goals were tidy, with Yates and Surridge putting the seal on the victory, but it was the second goal that got everyone talking: Davis received the ball with his back to goal 25 yards out, and in one move he turned and shrugged off three men, before approaching the box and curling home a fine finish. Power, pace, confidence and finesse - this goal was Coll

Nottingham Forest 2-1 Huddersfield Town: The 1865 Match Report
08/03/2022 Duración: 31minIn another televised match that will get casual football fans wanting to watch the Championship, Forest progressed to the quarter finals of the FA Cup at the expense of play-off rivals Huddersfield. After a strong start, Sam Surridge scored a brilliant goal which was wrongly disallowed for offside, and there were echoes of the league match against the Terriers when Tom Lees headed home barely two minutes later. The Reds looked shell-shocked but regained their composure, with Ryan Yates' lungbusting run leading to Surridge's emphatic finish to equalise, and the home team then took the lead before half-time when Yates' strong header made the net bulge. The second half was slightly more scrappy but still combative, as sub Danny Ward warmed Ethan Horvath's gloves twice, while Spence and Garner both put the ball over the bar when it looked easier to score. Overall, a good performance and a great result, cementing a quarter final at home to Liverpool. Rich Ferraro and Tom Newton discuss the match, with special men

Sheffield United 1-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report
06/03/2022 Duración: 29minThis was a great advert for The Championship, as Ryan Yates' stoppage-time goal rescued a point for the Reds, who had trailed to Billy Sharp's 70th minute header. In truth, Forest should have wrapped it up before the Blades scored, with decent chances for Davis, Zinckernagel and Cook; Brennan Johnson will also go back to practising penalties at the training ground as his first half spot kick was easily saved by Wes Foderingham. It was 70 minutes of wondering how we hadn't scored, and then 25 minutes of fearing that we would get battered; but good saves by Ethan Horvath, along with great tackles by Cook and Zinckernagel (yes, really), and a poor pass from Daniel Jebbison gave the Reds the opportunity to snatch a share of the spoils right at the death. Rich Ferraro and Baz discuss whether this was two points dropped or one gained.
