Groundhog Day at the Bridge as Chelsea repeated almost exactly the recent capitulation against Southampton, but this time much worse as it was against the scousers. All was looking good with a goal by Ramires after 4 minutes and Chelsea seemingly in control, sitting back and playing on the counter for the first half. But then one loss of concentration, one mistake, Liverpool equalize, Chelsea heads drop and they lose their sixth game out of eleven 3-1. No wonder Jose is lost for words – it’s safe to say we all are too. A 2-1 defeat; a goal denied by technology; a goal ruled out for a hairline offside; a player sent off; the asst. coach and the manager both sent off; 6 players booked sums up the season pretty well and leads me to the undeniable conclusion that this season is well and truly a load of bollocks. After a decent performance against Kiev in midweek redolent of Chelsea’s title winning season, it was two steps back again in the Premier League with a defeat to the high flying Hammers. But are we suffering from some serious bad luck with decisions or were we fairly and squarely ironed out. Only the Chelsea FanCast has the answers. Finally Chelsea get a win at home and a clean sheet and we have now reached the lofty heights of 11th in the Premier League with 11 points. Keep this up and we should get the 38 points we need to avoid relegation! Joking aside, the win was great but in truth the performance was poor. But hopefully getting back to basics, re-learning how to defend, keeping clean sheets and digging out results will lead to the confidence flooding back and out of that better performances will grow. So Chelsea and Jose’s run of poor form against their bogey team – Newcastle – continues. Jose was pretty forthright after the match claiming that the collective first half effort by the team deserved a rating of minus one, and would have substituted at least 6 players if he could. Thankfully the introduction of Ramires and Willian seemed to wake up Chelsea and in all honesty we could have walked off with all three points. We all knew the perfect antidote to a dismal start to the season would be a game against perennial bottle merchants Arsenal, and so it proved. Public enemy number one, Diego Costa mugged off the whining goons with a display of calculated rage and dark arts and of course the Arse capitulated in a froth of indignity and injustice only surpassed by the copious amounts of froth laden latte they drink. Chelsea got their first win of the season under their belt on Sunday to calm the nerves for the relegation battle to come – well that’s what the red-tinted media would have us believe. New boy Pedro replete with his dodgy tache was the star of the show, but it was good to see goal pig Costa back on the scoresheet and pocket dynamo Cesar Azpilicueta scoring his first Premier League goal. Chelsea has become a veritable Spanish Armada. All good things must come to an end, and it was good to see Chelsea round off their title winning season with a 3-1 defeat of Sunderland. Even better to see Remy put in a decent performance and score two goals; hopefully he’ll be with us next season. Sadly there are likely to be several players who won’t be but it was nice to give a fond farewell to Didier Drogba, Petr Cech and quite possibly Jon Obi Mikel. Stamford Chidge is joined by Dr Mart, Jonathan Kydd and Dan Silver to discuss the 3-0 defeat to WBA and on this day remember the greatest day in our football lives - Munich 19-05-12! If ever you are going to lose 3-0 to WBA, then I suppose it is just about ok to do so when you have the Premier League title wrapped under your arm. Or is it? Is there such a thing as a meaningless match? Thanks to either the hilarious or stupid Fabregas red card, the Blues found themselves in a hole they were unable to dig themselves out of. Jose blamed fatigue and a lack of motivation, but shouldn’t the great motivator himself have been able to get them up and at them? Nothing wrong with the motivation of the Chelsea away massive who sung their hearts out all match and made a din that reminded me of our support in the ‘80’s and it was good to see Jose acknowledge their special contribution this season at the end of the match. So Sunday was far more about what happened off the pitch than on it. A tale of 2 captains on it as Stevie Me wiped out JT’s opener after 5 minutes in what had the feel of a rather meaningless match. After all the hate about boring football and negative tactics it seemed wholly appropriate that Chelsea won the title on Sunday with a 1-0 win coming from a spawny penalty which Hazard scored on the rebound, and we ended up with 8 defensive players on the pitch. That’s why we are champions. At the end of the day, all the Chelsea supporters celebrating in the pubs around Stamford Bridge late in to the evening yesterday do not care one jot. A great day on Saturday as Chelsea’s 1-0 win against Yanited brought us one match closer to lifting the Premier League title. As for the match, we all knew what to expect and Jose delivered a classic rope-a-dope on Yanited inviting them in for the first half an hour before Eden Hazard delivered what proved to be the knock-out blow on 38 minutes. A horrible game but a great result best sums up Chelsea’s win in the Loftus Road toilet bowl. To be fair QPR made it tough for Chelsea with a bobbly pitch and their bobbly headed fans. But all the coin and bottle throwing couldn’t deny Chelsea another three points as they continue the march to the title. As for QPR, all their frothing at the mouth every time a Chelsea player touched the ball can’t hide the fact that they are and always have been a championship club and forever in Chelsea’s shadow.
