God Tests Abraham The word "test" means "to prove by trial." It is designed to prove faith. What are some trials you have experienced? When God tested you, how did you measure up to James 1:2? Why did God test Abraham? To test Abraham's faith To demonstrate absolute obedience. To reveal God as Jehovah-Jireh. To foreshadow Jesus Christ. What did Abraham believe that helped him with his faith? Hebrews 11:17-19 God Will Provide What do verses 3, 5 & 8 tell you about Abraham's mindset? What is faith and why does it matter? Hebrews 11:1, 6 God Does Provide Allen P. Ross writes, "Isaac was brought 'from the dead' twice - once from Sarah's dead womb and again from a high altar." (Bible Knowledge Commentary, Genesis) Substitutionary Atonement Abraham did not withhold his own son. Likewise, God, did not withhold Jesus. Genesis 22:12; Romans 8:32
