    20/05/2018

Despite the tremendous demonstrations of his power throughout the region, those in his own hometown of Nazareth reject him. While people began to recognize the power of Jesus over sickness, they had not yet seen his power over death itself. 22/04/2018

Extolling the virtues of God’s word and the attributes of his character, the psalmist in Psalm 33 gives reason for their hope and trust in God. By growing in their understanding of who God is and what he does, God’s people can look to the future with greater confidence and comfort. We know that the Christian life is about more than just an hour on Sunday. To grow in Christ, we seek to apply God’s word in our lives and look to the whole body of Christ for encouragement and exhortation. 1. A new song (vs. 1-3) a. Grow in understanding (vs. 4-5) b. In Psalm 67, God’s people pray that God would, “be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us”. This prayer is not offered selfishly solely for their own gain, but that his way may be known on the earth and his saving power among the nations. Believing in faith that this will occur, his people respond in songs of praise. A call to corporate worship, Psalm 67 1. The cry of our community (v. 1) 2. The reason that we sing (vs. 2-3) 3. God’s redemptive plan for mankind culminated with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. However, the plan itself was laid out centuries earlier. • Something Greater, 1 Kings 19:19-21 / 2 Kings 2:8-14

    11/02/2018

When God calls us to follow Him, he is calling us to something greater than we could ever ask or imagine. Too often, however, we are satisfied by following the call of our own selfish heart. In the call of Elisha we see how God’s call leads to something greater, even though at first it seems to be exactly the opposite. Elisha was a wealthy man, but to be faithful to God’s call he gave up his wealth. Elisha was a man of authority, but he gave up his authority to serve Elijah for 18 years. As Elisha found following the call of God was greater than he could have imagined, every one of us must be faithful to follow the specific call God has given us. 1.
