Haley is reading Becky Chambers' "Long Way to a Small Angry Planet" and hope you check it out too for some lady-written sci-fi. Emily just watched "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" and is shouting out to the ever-enduring J. K. Rowling

This week our hosts discuss questionable prom queen election tactics, a continuously disgusting Xillow romance, and the contenders in Slayerfest '98 in episode 305, "Homecoming" For more Hot Chicks with[out] Superpowers check out: Haley has been watching "Good Girls Revolt" on Amazon, a show about female Newsweek reporters who ended up suing the company for gender discrimination and dominating the industry. Hannah is watching "The Crown" is a BBC series following the reign of Queen Elizabeth II (Claire Foy) and is an incredible look at the British royal family and Foy's face acting. Emily is giving a shout-out to all the excellent women who were elected in November, thereby quadrupling the number of women of color in the Senate and giving us all a bit more hope for the next four years...

Emily has been practicing 'Yoga with Adriene' to help with some back pain and recommends you all check her out if you're looking to stretch. Haley is reading "Carry This Book" by Abbi Jacobson and even though she isn't the biggest Broad City fan she's loving this illustrated book.

Haley got a chance to read "Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman" by Lindy West and recommends you all put a copy on hold! Haley is still enjoying Supergirl on its new home on CBS with amazing starring ladies Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) and Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart).

This week our hosts wrap up their discussion on "Becoming" and Season 2. We're chatting about Spike's glorious exit, spoilies, and one of Buffy's most powerful one-word comebacks. This week our hosts are discussing a deeply troubling episode that glosses over assault, spends way too much time on mutant fish genes, and generally manages to horrify all three of us in episode 220 "Go Fish" For more Hot Chicks With[out] Superpowers: Haley has been binge-watching "Steven Universe" with its strong female characters and revolutionary female creator, Rebecca Sugar. Hannah watched "Batman Vs. Superman" and although she doesn't recommend that movie, the Wonder Woman cameo almost makes it worth it. Despite everything Gal Gadot will be an excellent DC leading character. Emily is reading Gabrielle Union's op-ep piece in the LA Times concerning the rape allegations against Nate Parker, her personal experiences with assault, and what the upcoming "Birth of a Nation" means to her.
