Finally! The day HDM die-hards have been waiting for since the 2015 announcement. Episode one has come and gone and it was brilliantly fantastic and executed flawlessly! Travis and Richard break down their favorite moments of the debut episode. They also respond to some unwarranted whining and complaining from a small minority of viewers. More gushing from the hosts. Every performer knocked it out of the park, but Ruth Wilson gets the MVP of this episode. This cast is highly diverse and representation is at the forefront without pandering or feeling forced or focus-grouped. This week's book returns to the "fish out of water" trope R.L. Stine is known for, as two kids on a family vacation have to make life altering decisions to survive! A great brother/sister dynamic, vivid environmental description, and genuine terror round out this story, along with some pretty cool ties to history, and understandable motivations. And homemade ice cream. lots of homemade ice cream.

Rich and Travis are back for episode two and they try their darnedest not to spoil any book and potentially show story lines when discussing their favorite book in the Pullman/HDM universe. This week's book is special for me, because it's the first one I remember buying at the book fair! Todd is the most focused character in the series so far, but nowhere near the most noble! The story has some particularly gross moments, great interactions, and focuses on set pieces familiar to the protagonist, a real departure from the "fish out of water" tempo and tone of most of the other books. All this, hyper intelligent bugs, and details on the newest shows on the SKP network!
