With a party that's much more sophisticated than the scenes depicted in the show, this season's party started with a nod to the grown folks in the cast. Later there were sounds for the new youthful cast members that Season 4 focused on. One of my strategies when playing is to get everyone in the room involved by touching them musically. Mostly unmixed because many of these songs end cold (meaning that they don't fade out). If you play good songs, and they end cold, let them be. When they finish, you'll find that you can continue on with a similar vibe, or you can change tempo, or you can change music altogether...letting a song end is actually one of the more thoughtful and satisfactory segues. Clocking in at 3 hours, you can feel tropical, practice your salsa dance, or just plain enjoy the virtuosity of these musicians. I can't recall if I got to shake his hand when he came to Columbia's Graduate School of Journalism in 1993 to lecture but I was there soaking in the wisdom. This party was actually for the launch of footwear produced by Run from Run-DMC. Mr. Ashe's wife Jean was in attendance and this set pretty much was for her.
