Tune in for Part two of Alex Gale's Sermons "Looking into the Mirror of God's Truth." Alex follows on from last weeks look at our culture to the story of the rich young ruler (Mark 10:17-31). Alex shows us how Jesus used a question to challenge the assumptions of the rich young ruler. Jesus spoke the Truth in love. Alex challenges us to look at our church and our lives; what assumptions are we holding onto that we must let go to recieve the freedom God has for us?

Culture has a flow. Events in history do not happen in a vacuum, and decisions now affect the future direction of our culture. We can use God's word like a mirror to see where we are heading. Alex lays out the seriousness of our Culture's direction at the moment and then describes some actions we can take. He asks us; What could God do in our culture in NZ if we would pray and act? "If you look for truth, you may find comfort in the end; if you look for comfort you will not get either comfort or truth only soft soap and wishful thinking to begin, and in the end, despair." This can very stretching for us, but it also brings people to a place of looking for alternative answers. People are increasingly open to hear the answers that Jesus has. Could you live on one meal a week? Would you make that choice? Many of us are doing just that spiritually. In the message bible it says; "Grow up in Christ..." and that "there’s so much more..." (Hebrews 6:1) Pastor John Encourages us to take up the resposibility to feed ourselves, and not rely on others to fed us. Babies are cute, but a baby who never reaches it's expected milestones is heart breaking. There is so much more. We need to become responsible for ourselves.
