We review Solo: A Star Wars Story, the origin of the galaxy far, far away’s favorite scruffy-looking nerfherder. Surprise! We love it. For it being such a basic prequel story, it’s surprisingly layered with lots of themes and great filmmaking. Stay a while and listen!

Melissa McCarthy is back with Life of the Party, and we gave it a Gentlewoman’s C. Also, we go back to review three films we missed from the last few months: Isle of Dogs, Love Simon, and The Quiet Place.

Wow. Completely spoiler free, we talk about how Avengers: Infinity War left us feeling.  There’s lots to talk about here, but we both loved it.

Adam is sick, so with our Superman out, Andy had to assemble a Justice League of his own to take on these movies: Kaitlyn Booth of Bleeding Cool, and Mark De Leon and Melissa Martinez from No You Move.  We have lots of feelings about Justice League, and even more about Coco. Bring tissues.

Thor: Ragnarok is the best Thor movie. It’s funny, it’s beautiful, and it might even make you think. Listen to us gush over it for almost a half hour set to a soundtrack provided by Led Zeppelin.  9/10. Would Ragnarok again.

The Dark Tower and Detroit opened this week. Neither of us are familiar with the source material. Adam gives it a 7, Andy gives it a 6. A cameo by Mr. Meeseeks. Detroit and Andy talks for a long time about racism. Get Out and Mondo posters.

The Emoji Movie is as bad as you’ve heard and worse. Atomic Blonde is its exact opposite and the perfect way to chill out.

Three movies with A Ghost Story, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, and Dunkirk. Andy kind of hated A Ghost Story. Rooney Mara eats a pie. Casey Affleck wears a sheet. It’s a boring, pretentious mess. Valerian is visually amazing but has some problems.  Dunkirk is amazing, but Andy has some problems with it.

We have a special episode early because it’s SPIDER-MAN! The newest film fits in with the MCU but also is its own thing. It’s really, really great. Funny. No Uncle Ben death– thank you! Teen angst. The Vulture and why he’s awesome. Just give all your stuff to Marvel, Sony (and Fox).

One for the kids and one for the adults as we check in with the further adventures of Gru in Despicable Me 3 and ride along with Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver. If you liked the first two Despicable Me movies, you’ll like this one.
