126 – Bad Times at the Venom First Man
15/10/2018Three movies this week as we take on First Man, Venom, and Bad Times at the El Royale. Are we too woke about First Man? Is it boring or inspiring? Venom needed to have more Venom. It’s a 90’s comic book movie whose after credits scenes are better than the movie itself. Stupid, but not … Continue reading 126 – Bad Times at the Venom First Man →

125 – The Hate U Give A Star is Born
05/10/2018Back again to discuss two of the first entries into this year’s awards race movies — A Star is Born and The Hate U Give — as well as recap some of what we loved over the summer. Our choices, Hereditary and Upgrade, are also great Halloween movies, so make sure you add them to … Continue reading 125 – The Hate U Give A Star is Born →

123 – Solo
23/05/2018We review Solo: A Star Wars Story, the origin of the galaxy far, far away’s favorite scruffy-looking nerfherder. Surprise! We love it. For it being such a basic prequel story, it’s surprisingly layered with lots of themes and great filmmaking. Stay a while and listen!

122 – Deadpool 2 [NSFW!]
18/05/2018This episode is not for all ears, because we’re talking Deadpool 2. So, of course, to even discuss some of these things, we will need to use “coarse, adult language, not suitable for work!” Listen with your headphones on! No spoilers, except for we like it! Listen why. Also a preview of the Solo movie … Continue reading 123 – Deadpool 2 [NSFW!] →

120 – Annihilation Oscars
26/02/2018WE ARE BACK! Andy swears about Red Sparrow, talks up Game Night, and Andy and Adam both gush about Annihilation. Our Oscar picks– who will win and who should win. Highlights: Andy doesn’t like Three Billboards or Darkest Hour. Adam likes Call Me By Your Name. We both like Bladerunner 2049 and Andy Serkis– who … Continue reading 120 – Annihilation Oscars →

119 – Justice League Coco
25/11/2017Adam is sick, so with our Superman out, Andy had to assemble a Justice League of his own to take on these movies: Kaitlyn Booth of Bleeding Cool, and Mark De Leon and Melissa Martinez from No You Move. We have lots of feelings about Justice League, and even more about Coco. Bring tissues.

118 – Thor: Ragnarok
03/11/2017Thor: Ragnarok is the best Thor movie. It’s funny, it’s beautiful, and it might even make you think. Listen to us gush over it for almost a half hour set to a soundtrack provided by Led Zeppelin. 9/10. Would Ragnarok again.

117 – Blade Runner 2049
08/10/2017WE LOVE BLADE RUNNER 2049!!! And we’re going to spend 30 minutes not telling you anything about it. No spoilers. Zero. But lots of why it’s good. How it succeeds where movies like Ghost in the Shell, mother!, and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets failed. This is the best movie of the year, and … Continue reading 117 – Blade Runner 2049 →

116 – Kingsman Ninjago
27/09/2017This week we discuss Kingsman: The Golden Circle, The Lego Ninjago Movie, and Brad’s Status. Brad’s Status is Ben Stiller and Mike White being serious about being older. The Lego Ninjago Movie reinvents the long-running cartoon / toy commercial for Lego ninjas with a voice cast of comedy all-stars. It’s lots of fun and fits in well with the Lego movie universe. Kingsman: … Continue reading 116 – Kingsman Ninjago →

115 – mother!
18/09/2017Warning! This episode gets PG-13 with a couple of f-words and discussions of the adult content of mother! We also welcome Kaitlyn Booth of Bleeding Cool. Andy talks Rebel in the Rye: a good movie about a kind of garbage person who wrote a garbage book that garbage people love. 5/10. Kaitlyn saw American Assassin and found it … Continue reading 115 – mother! →

113 – The Hitman’s Brigsby Bear
21/08/2017We’re back with The Hitman’s Bodyguard and Brigsby Bear. And stick around as we talk about all our panels at Salt Lake Comic Con!! The Hitman’s Bodyguard studios keep learning the wrong lesson from Deadpool. It’s mediocre, but check out the fuller written review here. Brigsby Bear is heartfelt and beautiful, not what we’d expect from The Lonely Island and Kyle Mooney … Continue reading 113 – The Hitman’s Brigsby Bear →

112 – The Dark Detroit Tower
06/08/2017The Dark Tower and Detroit opened this week. Neither of us are familiar with the source material. Adam gives it a 7, Andy gives it a 6. A cameo by Mr. Meeseeks. Detroit and Andy talks for a long time about racism. Get Out and Mondo posters.

111 – Atomic Emoji
31/07/2017The Emoji Movie is as bad as you’ve heard and worse. Atomic Blonde is its exact opposite and the perfect way to chill out.

110 – A Ghost Story of a Thousand Dunkirks
24/07/2017Three movies with A Ghost Story, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, and Dunkirk. Andy kind of hated A Ghost Story. Rooney Mara eats a pie. Casey Affleck wears a sheet. It’s a boring, pretentious mess. Valerian is visually amazing but has some problems. Dunkirk is amazing, but Andy has some problems with it.

109 – Spider-Man: Homecoming
06/07/2017We have a special episode early because it’s SPIDER-MAN! The newest film fits in with the MCU but also is its own thing. It’s really, really great. Funny. No Uncle Ben death– thank you! Teen angst. The Vulture and why he’s awesome. Just give all your stuff to Marvel, Sony (and Fox).

108 – Despicable Baby Driver
03/07/2017One for the kids and one for the adults as we check in with the further adventures of Gru in Despicable Me 3 and ride along with Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver. If you liked the first two Despicable Me movies, you’ll like this one. Andy sees maybe a subversive message about remakes and nostalgia. The Minions grow tiresome. Baby Driver is … Continue reading 108 – Despicable Baby Driver →

107 – Transformers: The Last War for the Planet of the Apes
26/06/2017A great movie and a horrible movie with special guest Rich Bonaduce! as we review Transformers: The Last Knight and War for the Planet of the Apes. An inexplicable plot. Stupid action. All characters are stupid. British Megan Fox has a PhD and will remind you about it, but she just needs a man. Mark … Continue reading 107 – Transformers: The Last War for the Planet of the Apes →
