Phoenix is hiring a "Chief Heat Officer," in response to rising heat related deaths, which the city blames on climate change. The truth is most of those dying are homeless or drug addicts with underlying health conditions, people already in poor health. As far as Phoenix's heat, that is due, not to climate change but the city's massive growth and related increased Urban Heat Island effect. Responding to homelessness and drug use will do far more to prevent premature deaths in Phoenix than efforts to fight climate change or control the weather.

The other day, Donald Kendal, director of the Socialism Research Center at The Heartland Institute, joined The Shaun Thompson Show to talk about the European Union's new ESG scheme. The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive would mandate a whole host of ESG-like guidelines on businesses and industries in the EU. More importantly, because of the way the legislation was crafted, businesses, both large and small, here in the United States would be subject to the CSDDD mandates, too. Have a listen.

The Heartland Institute has issued a report exposing the US government’s official land-based temperature stations as hopelessly corrupt and compromised. The study, conducted by Heartland Senior Fellow Anthony Watts – an update on a previous examination of temperature stations in 2009 – was the subject of a hit-piece by Scott Waldman of E&E News and POLITICO titled “Climate denial group wants to subvert NOAA data with its own: The Heartland Institute seeks to build da nationwide network of temperature-monitoring stations.”Well, yes we do. And we’re doing it because too many of NOAA’s historic stations are either captured by sprawl and the urban heat-island effect, in such terrible shape that they should not be relied upon for accurate data, or not even operable at all or broken – and in those cases, NOAA just makes a guess as to the temperature. That is problematic, to say the least, since temperature readings from these crappy stations is used to panic the American people, continually, by telling them tha
