The Purpose of Motherhood | September McCarthy | Ep. 125
24/08/2020 Duración: 51minMotherhood is full and glorious - but also filled with trials and suffering. If we don't understand the purpose of our motherhood, we will get lost in everyday difficulties and no way to reclaim perspective. That's what I discuss today with September McCarthy, mother of 10 and homeschool mama. She has a unique perspective of generational motherhood with children spanning from age 28 to 8 years old. She has grandchildren and children of her own still in her home, affording her the perspective of a multi-generational mother and seeing how unique and beautiful our purpose is in God's kingdom. She shares so much wisdom and encouragement for those of us in the trenches. No matter what season of motherhood you are in, you will be encouraged by her testimony of God's grace in her nearly 30 years of being a mother. A Biblical Look at Racism, Justice & Culture | Monique Duson | Ep. 121
09/06/2020 Duración: 59minThe murder of George Floyd on May 25 sent the United States into a nationwide cultural discussion on racism and justice. There are many voices offering many solutions to the problems that ail society. But how do we look at this issue as Christians? What answer does the Bible have for the sin and evil we see in society in both individuals and our systems of government? How do we respond as Christians to the call of the world to "divest of our whiteness" and embrace the narrative offered by Critical Race Theory that so many (including many Christians) are letting guide the discussion? This is what Monique and I are discussing today. Monique is the founder of the Center for Biblical Unity and a Racial Unity Advocate. Shownotes available at www.kindldedpodcast.com Sponsor: H. [REPLAY] The Truth about Social Justice | Darrell Harrison & Virgil Walker | Ep. 68
08/06/2020 Duración: 01h05minSocial justice is no doubt a relevant and hot topic today. Should Christians become "social justice warriors"? Is this biblical? What is justice as the bible defines it and what is our role in bringing it about in the world? These are just a few of the questions I posed to the Darrell Harrison and Virgil Walker, the hosts of the Just Thinking podcast, my absolute favorite podcast. I was honored that Darrell and Virgil agreed to come on the show and discuss this incredibly relevant and important topic with me. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/kindledpodcast/support

Pornography: The Greatest Threat to the Cause of Christ | Rosie Makinney | Ep. 120
25/05/2020 Duración: 50minPornography is the most destructive force we are facing today - and by and large? We AREN'T TALKING ABOUT IT. (Excuse me for yelling, this is kind of a big deal.) Hearts are being darkened by evil, brains are being rewired by overstimulation and marriages are being destroyed. Here's some stats for you: 79% of Christian men who attend evangelical church regularly use porn. 55% of Christian men look at it monthly and 1 in 10 look at it daily. But it's NOT JUST MEN - the fastest growing user group is Women. The biggest user group is 12-17 year olds. 1 out of 10 porn users is under the age of 10. BUT hold on -- there is hope, healing and restoration. There is forgiveness through Christ and we can walk in the light, free of shame and deception. Free of slavery to this evil that so easily entangled. We have to talk about this, Church. Listen to my conversation with Rosie Makinney of Fight For Love Ministries Sponsor: H. How Jesus Redeems the Power of Touch | Lore Wilbert | Ep. 119
19/05/2020 Duración: 43minWhether it’s fearful side hugs on one side or sexual abuse on the other, both the culture and the church aren’t doing very well with touch. Singles are staying single longer, dating is wrought with angst over purity, and marriages struggle to not interpret all forms of touch as sexual. Even the Bible seems to have endless rules about not touching things. There is simply no place where touch doesn’t seem threatened or threatening. But a curious thing happens when Jesus comes into His ministry: He touches. Jesus touches the sick and the outcast, the bleeding and the unclean. The 10 Commandments of Progressive Christianity | Dr. Michael Kruger | Ep. 117
04/05/2020 Duración: 41minThese 10 Commandments are in effect - a new Ten Commandments. What’s striking is that they are far less about God revealing his desires and far more about man expressing his own—less Moses, more Oprah. Yet each of these commandments is partially true. Indeed, that is what makes this list, and progressive Christianity as a whole, so challenging. Half-truths can sound quite appealing until you recognize their foundations and implications. Self Love: Settling for a Lesser Love | Brooke Tabor | Ep. 115
20/04/2020 Duración: 53minIs self-love really loving? It's a question worth asking. And my guest Brooke Tabor and I go there in today's episode. Our cultural moment is nothing short of consumed with this concept of loving yourself better. Self-love is the best love. Love yourself first to love others. And while we are sure the intention behind the phrase often means well, for Christians, it profoundly misses the mark of the kind of love scripture both promises us AND calls us to exhibit. The New Age & The Enneagram | Marcia Montenegro | Ep. 112
30/03/2020 Duración: 01h05minToday I'm airing the second part of my conversation with Marcia Montenegro. We're diving headfirst into the New Age and tackling some big topics like naturopathy, mindfulness, the enneagram. Marcia explains the origins of these ideas, concepts and the enneagram itself, which may surprise you. To be fair, I have long loved the enneagram and how it felt like it explained me so accurately, helped me understand more about myself and others, but as I've learned more about its origins, I've taken a more critical approach to it. But Marcia's biggest beef isn't that you identify as a "three" or an "achiever" but that the enneagram is teaching people to value experience over truth, a foundational teaching of the new age. While I think there's plenty of room for believers to disagree on whether the enneagram can be "redeemed" (which tends to be the point of argumentation), it's important for us to take a look at the origins of what we engage with so we can rightly understand how we interact with them today.
