He was the Services Division Commander for 7 years overseeing all non uniform personnel in dispatch, records, jail and animal control. He has spent the last 4 years as the commander of the detective division overseeing 5 detectives, 1 property room officer and all investigations. He tries to listen to Coach JC's Motivational Minute CD every day. He reminds himself of the FFR pillars of Focus, Fitness, Food, Family and Faith and works to concentrate on them through each day. Physically if he can't make it to FFR to work out he will try to work out in the gym at work or go to the high school track to exercise. Spiritually he is working to become more consistent in his daily bible reading and prayer.

He was twice named “Officer of the Year” for the Chattanooga Police Department, received two life-saving medals – one of those for performing CPR on his wife Meredith who was clinically dead for over 15 minutes after suffering a massive heart attack eight (8) days after the birth of their daughter, and he also received the Tennessee Governor’s Homeland Security

Sergeant Major Lance Nutt was sworn into the Marine Corps by his father, a retired Marine Corps Naval Aviator, in 1988. Early in his career and as a young Marine, Lance deployed to the Persian Gulf as part of Operation Desert Shield/Storm. After Desert Storm, Lance attended the Univ. of Arkansas at Monticello for four years where he pursued a dual major in business management and communication. He returned to the Corps in 1995, serving as a Marine Recruiter and Recruiter Instructor until 2000. Lance was recruited out of the Marine Corps in 2000 to manage corporate sales for major retail marketing companies in northwest Arkansas. In 2002, and with the War on Terror in full swing, Lance found himself longing to serve again. He joined 3rd Battalion, 24th Marines in 2003 and immediately found himself gearing up for a combat tour in Iraq.Lance
