In a Domestic Violence situation boundaries are constantly crossed. Once you have removed yourself it is time to start building new boundaries. Creating that sense of safety is very important. In a domestically violent situation you need to have a safety plan ready. The question never is if it will happen it is always when. It is only a matter of time when that person explodes. Then you will need to leave and having a safety plan is extremely important to have. Self-care is extremely important to your mental, emotional and physical health. Often we are so busy helping others and surviving trauma. We forget to tend ourselves by caring for ourselves.
