She is a strong independent woman who has a passion for fishing and classic trucks. Many times you will find posts on what she is working on her classic truck doing most of the work on her own! As an ice angler she is an independent angler who goes out on her own to find her own fish, drill her own holes and of course clean her catch!  Katie is another amazing strong independent woman. She is a carpenter by day and independent ice angler on the weekends and evenings. She takes others under her wing and introduces them to the sport of ice fishing. I met Katie at a landing as she loaded her ice house into her truck, my husband offered to help

Terry Glover from Qwest Pontoons is back as my special guest on this week's episode of The Woman Angler & Adventurer Podcast! It was fun catching up and talking about 2020 and all the new things in store for 2021.  I had the privilege of running a 2020 Qwest Splash Pad this year from Anderson Marine Family Boating Center in Old Hickory, TN. The tritoon was outfitted with a 200HP Yamaha VMAX SHO and my guests absolutely loved it! I picked out the regal red color because I wanted to turn heads out on the lake, and turn heads it did! Every time I had it docked over my the marina restaurant, just about everyone that walked by had to stop and talk about it. The red paired with the greystone furniture really popped!  The layout of the Splash Pad model is so roomy and functional. We had some awesome "pontoon karaoke" outings onboard. I took some kids fishing and previous podcast guest Brittany Howard came out a couple times to chase some bass! Among the biggest hits were the innovation award-winning Lillipad Mar

  • EP. 154 An Outdoor Adventurer from East Tennessee- Glenda Curving

    20/10/2020 Duración: 21min

I have to thank my brother-in-law Brent Scott for this episode. He introduced me to this week's guest, Glenda Curving. She was a joy to chat with and I hope to meet her out at Tellico sometime soon! This is what Brent wrote of Glenda: Four years ago I took my son to the Tellico River for the first time. We pulled up to a campsite and ask a nice lady if the spot next to her was open. That was one of the luckiest things that's happened to us. She said it was and helped us get set up. That lady was Glenda Curving. Over that weekend we became fast friends with Glenda and Gary. We ended up transferring our gear over to their campsite and staying with them. We've been up there since many times. We ALWAYS coordinate when Glenda and Gary can be there. We've come to know some of her family and they are just as sweet as she is. Glenda has become a grandmother like role model to my boys. She loves them like they are hers. She cooks for us and dotes over them the entire time we are up there. Glenda grew up in East Tennes

    13/10/2020 Duración: 20min

Welcome to this week's special encore performance of The Woman Angler & Adventurer podcast featuring Angelica Marciano from Wicked Tuna! This episode just won an Excellence In Crafts Award from the Tennessee Outdoor Writers Association. It earned 2nd Place in the Broadcast Category! This is why I thought it would be fun to re-release it this week as a special encore episode.  I checked in with Angelica and they just wrapped up filming for the new season, it's a ton of fun so be sure to be on the lookout for that!  Here's the original show notes: Do you watch National Geographic's hit series Wicked Tuna? If you do, you've likely been "lured in" by the reality series that follows a group of Gloucester Massachusetts die-hard anglers going after the monstrous and elusive bluefin tuna. You find yourself sitting on the edge of your seat while the captains and their shipmates engage in epic battles trying to boat these beasts that bring large paydays which they need to keep their families afloat season after sea

  • EP. 152 Epic Girl's Trip on Lake Erie

    06/10/2020 Duración: 17min

Welcome to this week's episode, all about the "Girls Trip" I went on with Jen Ripple from DUN Magazine and Outdoor Girl Cheryl Smith. It was a whirlwind of a trip, but so incredibly worth it! I drove two hours from Nashville up to Land Between the Lakes to meet up with Jen on an early Monday morning. We loaded up the truck and continued our trek north 8.5 hours to Port Clinton, OH. In retrospect, we wondered why we didn't just fly up, but I'm glad we didn't. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time! We arrived at Bay's Edge Resort around 5pm. The first stop was over at the Bait Shop to check in to our luxurious townhome accommodations. While we were there we met acclaimed walleye spinner blade maker Tommy Harris and our Charter Guide Captain Mark Cahlik. Tommy and Mark showed us the fish in the amazing pond right there at the resort. None of us have seen bluegill so big our lives! We went out for a great dinner at a local Mexican restaurant, and after visiting for a bit back at our beautiful townhome, we went

    22/09/2020 Duración: 15min

As promised on last week's episode, this week I'm sharing my conversation with Kayla Jocumsen. Kayla is originally from Idaho. Her cousin is four time Elite winner Brandon Palaniuk. She's married to the  first ever Australian angler to qualify for the Bassmaster Elite Series, Carl Jocumsen.  Recently she and Carl made a home base in East Tennessee near Chattanooga to be centrally located, but as you'll hear by their upcoming travel schedule, they're not giving up life on the road any time soon.  She's an Ambassador for Mustang Survival and according to their website, Kayla had visited 47 states by age 26 and had fished in over 100 different lakes.  To say fishing and adventure are a lifestyle for this young woman would be pretty darn accurate, so I'm excited to introduce you to Kayla Jocumsen on this week's episode!  Mentioned in This Episode: Connect with Kayla Jocumsen on Facebook Follow Kayla Jocumsen on Instagram Fear My Heart Apparel  Mustang Survival Carl Jocumsen on Bassmaster.com Additional

  • EP. 148 Lexi Beyond Limits: Fly Fishing & Expanding Your Awareness

    08/09/2020 Duración: 01h13min

This week we're going to get pretty deep. I've personally been on a spiritual awaking journey recently. I think the pandemic and all the other things going on in the world right now have caused a lot of us to look for answers. I've been going down this path for about a year and recent events have helped to escalate my search for truth which has led to an expansion of awareness.  Out of the blue, Captain Debbie Hanson who was featured on Episode 140 of the show reached out to me and recommended I connect with a woman by the name of Lexi Quinn who is a fly angler, hunter, and life coach. Debbie had fished with her recently and said "she's the real deal."  Well, say no more. Debbie connected us and come to find out we are on very similar spiritual awakening paths. The universe knows what it is doing, to say the least. Lexi is a bit further along than myself, however, our conversation is something that I think could help enlighten a lot of listeners including YOU!  If you find any value in this week's episode, pl

  • EP. 147 Here's Your Opportunity to Save Lives

    01/09/2020 Duración: 16min

In this week's episode of The Woman Angler & Adventurer podcast, Sea Tow Foundation's Executive Director Gail Kulp joins us again to talk about another very important program spearheaded by the foundation. It's called the Sober Skipper Program. I'm honored to be a part of the Sober Skipper Program National Advisory Council. At Freedom Boat Club, we take boating under the influence very seriously. In fact, your membership would be terminated if caught doing so. That's one reason we're strong supporters of the program which is centered around the idea that boaters need to designate a sober skipper before leaving the dock. They have yellow wristbands that can be ordered by going to their website. They even have programs in place with certain on-the-water restaurants to give discounts to those seen worn the yellow wristbands as a thank you for being a sober skipper. If you're a social media influencer or represent a brand in the marine or fishing industry that you'd like to get some help promoting, consider s

  • EP. 146 Boating can be Safe and Fun!

    25/08/2020 Duración: 28min

Boating is a fun activity, but it isn't an inherently safe activity. That's one of the 1st things we USCG Licensed Captains teach our new members at Freedom Boat Club. That also happens to be what the Sea Tow Foundation is all about! Boating can be safe AND fun! Established in 2007 by Sea Tow Founder Capt. Joe Frohnhoefer, their mission is to bring attention to the number of preventable boating-related injuries, deaths, and damage to property, that directly addresses prevention methods through education and awareness. On this week's episode of The Woman Angler & Adventurer podcast, I'm pleased to welcome the Sea Tow Foundation's Executive Director Gail Kulp to talk about a really important program offered by the foundation called the Life Jacket Loaner Program. Preventable deaths due to improper or non-usage of PFD's seem to be more prevalent than ever due to the high number of uneducated or inexperienced people turning to boating and other water-related activities.  Please listen to this episode and see
