Norm was also the first African American to play the role of the Phantom on Broadway in The Phantom of the Opera.

She created the role of Norma Desmond over 30 years ago at Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sydmonton Festival, went on for Glen Close in the role at London’s Coliseum and has recently toured the UK playing Norma as well.
