Today's date is 7-7-07 and so it's only fitting to have Holmes! take the reigns of TheSongOfTheDay and sing his "Lucky 7." It's also fitting in that our friend and fellow song-writer Matt Scholtka gets married today. We'll be hoisting 7 vodka tonics to the lucky couple! We wish them all the best!

Here's one of the oldest ones from Jason's archives. It dates back to our high school years when songs about obese, security guards sitting in tiny, smelly offices seemed the thing to do. Obviously, we've since come along way now that we write songs about I.T. workers, priests,and dudes with ponytails.

Written years ago when Jason couldn't drive. Jason's Dad wanted nothing to do with chauffeuring him or his friends around. So, Jason wrote this song.

Obviously, we believe at in sharing music here at TheSongOfTheDay. When going through our archives, we found this song dating back to 1998. It's notable - to us at least - for being the first song we were able to share via the internet. We had just gotten our site www.beatnikturtle.com up and running (it was a page) and we posted this song to download as a WAV since mp3s weren't as prevalant then. Of course, broadband didn't really exist to the extent it does now either and it took forever for anyone to download!

Stop mooching our beer! This song asks St. Gratus (who really doesn't have much to do with beer - just vineyards) to watch over the fridge.

This song features Jason's Dad. Years ago, he walked in during the recording session to tell him dinner was ready. Jason quickly hit the sampler and caught this sentence fragment and put it to use throughout the song.

This song was inspired by a tweet posted by our Twitter friend Fitz about his being his Mom's tech support.
